130 Pound Merry-Go-Round; Who is the True Champion?
By Julian Kasdin (Februaury 10, 2006), DoghouseBoxing
Over that last few years boxing has experienced a renaissance in its lighter weight divisions. The junior lightweight division is no exception to this rule, as it is currently staffed by three of the top boxers pound for pound today. Manny Pacquiao, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Erik Morales have spent years kicking ass and taking names, and over this time they have established themselves as national heroes and all time great fighters. The one confusing thing about the junior lightweight division is who is the true champion? Is it Barrera with his two belts and wins over Morales, but what about his un-avenged loss to Pacquiao? Or how about Morales with his wins over both fighters despite his recent set backs? But what about Pacman, who holds dominating wins over both fighters? Depending on who you are and where you are from, you have your preference.

imma big pac fan but i think barrera should be top dog now considering the fact the he was able to claw back from that beating from pac. what's really been sad is that barrera doesnt believe in himself and he's pussying out on an immediate pac confrontation. pac's got the A game goin now but he needs to pickup MAB's belts so there aint no more askin whos the shittest :boxing: im sick and tired of mexicans whining that theyre like not concentrated, maybe tired of all the fights they had and other fucked up excuses whenever pac beats em up
pacman should not have any trooble getting the belts but he has to fight morales do to contract rematchYup, and may I suggest, MAB too, if the match can be made. Their first fight was at 126, and to determine the best 130, a fight must have to be made at 130, just to put to rest possible questions. This is not saying Pac will definitely win over MAB. It is merely saying that if Pac wins, the debate attenuates to a whimper; but if MAB wins, the debate shall rage even more and a third should be awaited. Again, at 130.
I tried but I can't get what is meant by "manufactured jr. lightweight" means when applied to Erik Morales. If "manufactured means bloated, I don't think Erik can be called a bloated jr. light: he has problems making weight at jr. light (as has been reported ad infinitum) and he has fought at a heavier weight.
It is also difficult to think of MAB as a manufactured jr. light if one thinks of him as a two-belt holder in that division. If one considers MAB a legit 130-champ holding two belts, then, it would be an oxymoron if one thinks of him in the same sentence as a bloated fighter, unless one confesses that he got those in manners that are not quite competitive-- a confession that would tar MAB as much as it would his opponents. Moreover, if he is already bloated at jr. light, why is he going up 5 pounds more in March? That shall put MAB's intelligence under question, and MAB has enough gray cells to even think of becoming a lawyer when he was younger.
Barrios ko'ed Mike Anchondo for the WBO Belt. Barrios was knocked out in 12 by Freitas in 2003.

domo arigato gozaimazu asian_sensation san;) (don't try to be kawaii rsl)
Your half-right.
I'd say Barrios eventhough Barrera has 2 of 'em. 'Cause he won it from a top-flight 130lber in Freitas.
