i was just watching this fight and its is clear that meldrick was winning the fight going into the 12th. rnd...it is also clear that he had also took a beating his whole face was badly swollen and i think he was fighting off instinct from about the 10th. rnd...going into the final rnd. meldrick was exhausted he fought at a very high pace and had thrown over a 1,000 punches also i belive his vision was affected do to do the swelling....duva has been around boxing along long time he has trained some very good fighters so he must of known all the things i have pointed out above....so why did he tell meldrick that the fight was hanging in the balance going into that last rnd. ??? and that he neede to win the 12th. ?? ....meldrick followed his advice and we all knoe what happened..but whay did duva give him the avdice he gave him ???
** You should take your advice. Taylor was ahead by a large margin on 2 cards which would have sealed a split decision.
exactly... while the tv crew was exagerrating showing his usual display of hyping up the flashiest fighter in the ring and getting over excited over taylor that night, I still think that there was no doubt taylor was winning the fight, and that 3rd card proves my point, don't trust too much the judges if dk is involved (and don't count on the ref, too).
on the other hand I completely agree that duva screaming at taylor costed him the fight.
look at the scorecards and you will find the answer, look at thre scorecards of chavez-whitaker, of oscar-tito et voila... Don King is the answer!

Probably Duva knew Taylor had no legs left and would have to fight off Chavez, so might as well fire him up.
Where Duva blew it was jumping on the ring apron and screaming at the ref and Taylor after the knockdown. That's an automatic DQ for his fighter, plus he was distracting Taylor who was woozy and trying to listen to the ref. Duva blew that fight, but of course Taylor was run over by a truck that night and was never the same.
