Pacquiao ready to fight Morales anew in June at 130 pounds
BY ALDRIN QUINTO
TWO-TIME world champion Manny Pacquiao yesterday said he would be glad to fight Erik Morales as early as June this year if the Mexican would agree to a 130-pound weight limit.
He ruled out a third encounter with Morales in September if the Mexican’s camp insists on a 132-pound weight limit.
Morales, a three-time world champion, fell to Pacquiao in the 10th round of their non-title fight at 130 pounds last month in Las Vegas. The Mexican, nicknamed "El Terible," wants to exercise a clause in their fight contract giving him another shot at Pacquiao but has asked that that weight limit be set at 132 pounds, two pounds over the super featherweight limit.
Pacquiao, however, said the clause stipulates that a third encounter, if it happens, should be at 130 lbs., adding a 132-pound weight limit would give Morales too much of an advantage.
"Malabo pang mangyari ‘yung gusto nila," (I doubt if they will get what they want.) said Pacquiao, adding he can fight Morales anew as early as June if the fight will be at 130 pounds.
"Kung 130, kahit hindi pa umabot ng September. Kahit sa June, pwede na," Pacquiao said. (If the rubber match is at 130, I am willing to have it staged earlier than September, even June is fine with me.)
The southpaw from General Santos City, who held world titles in the super bantam and featherweight divisions, said he feels Morales is just trying to dodge a third encounter by demanding things not provided in the contract.
"Alam niyang hindi ko gustong tumaas pa sa super feather kaya niya sinasabi ’yun. Ayaw lang niya sigurong mapahiya," Pacquiao said. (He knows I am not amenable to go up beyond super feather, that's why they are pushing for it. They probably want to save face.)
"Ayaw niyang masabi ng tao na hindi na niya talaga ako gustong labanan kaya marami siyang kundisyon na hinihingi." (He doesn't want people to say that he really doesn't want to fight me again, that's why he is asking for a lot of things.)
"Masyadong malaking diperensya ‘yung dalawang kilo sa bigat. Advantage na masyado para sa kanya," he added. (I think 2 lbs is a big difference, it is definitely a big advantage for him.)

Yep if Morales isnt up to it he should go right after Barrera...There's something about this fight that makes me feel like theyre not gonna be able to come to an agreement.

There are contrasting news coming from PI. Some newspapers and televisions are saying the September rubber match is still a go. There are also news that Pac is willing to fight Morlaes only at 130 . He also said that if Morales is not up to it, he is willing to wait for the Barrera rematch.
Whatever is the case, there is no confirmation from Pac himself that the anticipated rematch is going to happen. However, Pac has said that he is willing to co-promote his tune-up fight in Manila either with Larios or Jauregui with HBO.
I guess we still need to wait for a few more weeks before we get the any final decision from both camps.
