What does it take to get a TD, and what exactly is a TD. I belive it stands for Technical Decision, but how does one arrive at such a place? Is it, for example, when a fighter is cut from an incidental butt, and the fight goes to the cards after being stopped?
yeah that's exactly what it is. Refer to Julio Gonzales vs Montell Griffin. Gonzales got 3 pretty bad cuts I believe and was winning the fight after round 4 so he basically won (even though Griffin was coming on strong)
Speaking of the fight, what a bullshit decision that was. Maybe Gonzales won, I don't know, I had Griffen winning it myself, but come the fuck on, all 5 rounds to Gonzalez? I don't think so, not by a long shot.
I think it's when they stop the fight due to an accidental clash of heads and go to the scorecards to decide the winner. I'm pretty sure they score the round it stopped in if enough time has passed. So basically I don't know.

That's it. After four rounds, they go to the cards. If the cut happens inside 4 rounds and the fight is stopped, it will be ruled a No Contest.
