For all of you who are calling Barrera a coward, or saying he's ducking Pacquiao, here is what Michael Katz, probably the most respected boxing writer there is today, had to write about MAB in his latest article at Maxboxing.com
Marco Antonio Barrera. Absolutely a first-balloteer (to the hall of fame), and especially if he adds a title in a fourth weight division by beating Jesus Chavez for a lightweight belt March 25. Just the courage in taking that fight shows what kind of warrior Barrera is. And let's not forget how he drove Naseem Hamed from the game, won at least two of three from Erik Morales and hopefully he'll go for a rematch with Pacquiao.
im not the one typing clueless shit like yall are. yall are fuckin stupid and thats it man. im fuckin serious man yall jump on any post involving any of our boxers only to say negative shit. just look at the first page nuthing but pinoy crap.
here we go again with y'all, how come you get to generalize but when we hit u up wioth sum shit its racism, we speakin our mind
michael fat katz is a dope. he's one of the many old fools that was jealous of max kellerman, even helped get a website named max boxing to fool people to the site. he is a sour graped old fool.
wow what an in depth article. even two bit forum posters like me could write something more ground breaking than that. the only ground breaking michael fatz does is when his fat ass walks.
morancito, how come your only countering the nuthuggers? Did you even look at pyschopath's post? MAB has been talking so much shyt, announcements, press conference and now that his ass is on the line against Pac, he takes a different direction.
It's funny how you only read the nuthuggers' post, and skip sensible ones on purpose LOL :D
:D
He is taking the cue from MAB! :D just kiddin morancito! ;)

and you u hate us back
you moron did u watch the morales fight againts chavez, chavez stood 12 rounds and gave him some decent compatition even tho he broke his hand in the 2nd round
didnt pac stand toe to toe with morales eventhough he had a really bad cut? and i think you are calling barera a moron with what u said because barera said those words
Oh yeah? Just use common sense kid. Let me remind you again ok? Food for your empty thought so to speak.
Pussy Barrera: "I don't fight Morales' leftover"
Why are you fighting Chavez who's a leftover and not PAC who clearly aint?
Pussy Barrera replies: "err... I don't fight Morales' leftovers".
Whatever mexican coward.

Why? :p Only him can answer that friend.
MAB CHOSE to go up in weight before the PAC/Morales II?
Let me correct you on that. Just in case you forgot or you're missing it, Team MAB made two press conferences prior to PAC/Morales II. On the first they announced that The Chavez fight is off. On the second they declared that the Chavez fight was on hold and MAB will wait for the results of the Morales/Pac fight because he is interested to fight the winner. So contrary to what you are saying, MAB chose and decided to go up in weight and fight Chavez after the Pac/Morales II, wherein he announced that he'll be fighting Chavez instead of fighting Pacquaio. :D
Now on the Morales issue, I believe you are right. That's not a very good decision to ask for an immediate rematch.
:D
Yes he is. How can people call Barrera a coward when he goes up in weight and takes on this guy is beyond me. Just goes to show their lack of boxing knowledge.
dude some of the ppl you are arguing with have called mab a "slugger" and pacman a "deadly finesse boxer" in other threads, don't waste your time
isnt chavez the guy who killed johnson?
Yes he is. How can people call Barrera a coward when he goes up in weight and takes on this guy is beyond me. Just goes to show their lack of boxing knowledge.
let me ask you, he's a writer and any writer has his own prejudice opinion on a lot of things, does he share the majority of opinions of his colleagues in maxboxing? i certainly doubt it if he does.
Everyone at Maxboxing.com share the opinion that Barrera is a true warrior. I haven't read a single article, be it on Maxboxing or anywhere else, where it says Barrera is ducking Pacquiao. That fight was gonna be made until that piece of garbage Arum excercised the rubber match clause right away, just to take money off DLH and Barrera's hands.
And about the Chavez fight, it's all about the HBO date, plain and simple. He has a date to honour and that's why he's not fighting Pacquiao right away. If Pac could be ready on such a short period of time, he'd be fighting MAB on March 25. It's quite clear yet you fail to see it. Actually Barrera should be praised here, because he's taking a hell of a tuneup for the Pac fight.
that's his opinion but the fact remains that barera aint too hard on getting that revenge on pac, if he was indeed not in shape or whatever oscar says next when they last fought he should step up and demand, that's DEMAND, a rematch, if that is enough for some peeps to call him pussy so be it, i personally think he's afraid of what pac can do to him after the fight with EM
MAB does not know how to hide. Everyone knows he's a straght up boxer-slugger.I've never heard him ducking no one. What do you think he's taking on Chavez, who is as tough as PAC,maybe tougher!!!

** Less than a handful of boxing writers are respected, and Katz ain't one of em. Barrera ain't duckin' nobody. Chavez is probably more dangerous than Pac. Much adieu over nutin'.
I don't care if that article was written by Michael Katz, Dan Rafael, George Bush or Saddam Hussein. Everybody are biased, that's a fact. And that article is intended to cover up Barrera's damaged reputation. :)
Why would Katz try to cover Barrera's "damaged" reputation? He's the most independent scribe there is in the sport. He doesn't respond to ANY interest but his own criteria. You should read him some time, it's both fun and enlightening.
And by the way, he chose to go up in weight before Morales-Pac II. You make it seem the other way around.
I haven't read anything in Mexico where it says Morales wants a rubber match right away, but if it's for real, then it's clearly a mistake. You can talk about pride and everything but it's a mistake, both from a boxing and a business standpoint. He won't be fully recovered from the savage workload he's had in the last two years, and the fight won't be as atractive to fans. It's not a good career move and there's no way around it.
