I don't think the physical punishment he received from his last fight is the main reason for this.
It's more on MORALE. Erik has just suffered 2 consecutive loses and that's what bugging him. That's a black eye on his impresive career.
Eric just needs to rest and try to put it back together. He's just 29 and I'm sure he'll be back. :)
I agree erik is a real champ and he want to show it
how come every pr person i see always have some crappy (shirts, hats, bracelets, shoes)respresentin their crappy island? it gets on my nerves cause they look stupid. :D

wait...hold your horses guys! i just heard that erik wants a rematch in september. that was according to top rank's arum.
well, unless the dotted lines are signed, that still remains to be seen. at least until that time. however if the news was true, then we are in for another thrilling wars among the best of the best!
may the best man win! i go for pac, ko in 8th, 1:30 mins remaining! remember where you heard it first! :D
I think He really needs a rest and stay with his family.
Morales is a true fighter but Pride got the best of him. He doesnt want to change his style or correct his mistake and that the biggest problem facing Morales.
Erik has nothing to proove. He is loved not only by Mexicans but by Filipinos as well. He has always been one of my favorites. I am rooting for Erik in whatever he decides. He has been in too many wars and I think a rubber match with Pac might be one more to many because it will be another guaranteed war.
Morales should fight at 135lbs. Not Raheem cuz Raheem got him. Fight some quality Mexican doo cuz Morales got them on LOCKED. Only Barrera is the Mexican that beats him. Juan Diaz, etc....evn Casamayor shyt anybody.
besides checking on his health, i think he would be buying time to strategize his plan on coming back. no doubt he WILL come back. even if for the main reason that he would want to retire on a good note. i think it will be more on his team choosing who their opponents will be. The Raheem fight was a disastrous move considering that Raheem even ballooned to 151 on the day of the fight. But perhaps their biggest blunder was underestimating Pac by lining up as his next opponent just because they decision pac the first time and they believe they could handily beat him again so as to regain his status in the featherweight. opponent selection needs to be carefully studied this time. they shouldnt pay more attention to money fights, but concentrate on beatable opponents. two to three wins and he'll be back. :sombrero:
I agree, Morales should retire. Morales is just not the young and hungry fighter he once was. Morales last somewhat easy fight was against Guty Espadas Jr. and after that Morales fought Jesus Chavez, Carlos Alberto Hernandez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Zahir Raheem, and the Pacquiao wars. All against elite fighters that went the distance except his last fight with Pacquiao and if all those wars dont do anything to your body then I dont know what does(dont forget all his other fights and wars at 122 and 126). But I dont think just cause of the beating he took from Pacquiao should be the only reason why he should retire. Morales has just been in too many hard fights to actully think he could keep going. I belive if he were to fight Pacquiao again even at lightweight Morales would get beat again. I just dont see how he can win against the yough, strong, and still hungry Pacquiao, and if someone were to think Morales is still the same Morales then your crazy.
Great points, but for me I just cant believe its over for him yet something tells me that he's gonna come back nicely the way Barrera did after MAB lost in a similar way to pacquiao. It just sux to realize he might not last as long as Marco.
It's easy for you to say when you're not the one facing a life threatening injury. The last fight with PAC obviously got him destroyed and boxing is never a kind sport.
Of the 3 Mexicans, I only respect Morales because he is fearless in the ring and whatever his reputation OUTSIDE the ring may be, inside, it's simply quite impeccable.
But injuries sustained in brutal losses like the one he had on PAC should prompt him to retire. He already has the money to settle himself up. He has a family to think about.
Common sense dictates that if he chooses to fight PAC again, it's a sure way he will be dismantled physically again. Win or lose for Morales, his body will go through the same world full of hurt again and there is only so much a body can take before it gives out. No matter how tough you may be.

erik should retire, he cant beat the elites at 135 which is the weight he can make without hurting himself, 130 is to much for him now to much draining and his wars from 3 mab bouts 2 pac fights and so on are taking its toll, to damaged and cant fight in a weight class in which he can be a top dog.
If i could be like any fighter or fighters one of them would be Morales as well as PAC Unlike most pac fans I admire Morales a whole lot haha.

If I could be one fighter, I would be Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini. This is not a bad idea for a thread.

I didn't say he should fight again, nor did I say he should retire. Whatever he decides, I'm fine with it, as I'm sure are all his other fans. I just stated that he didn't mention anything about retirement, not on that interview anyway.
