Barrera to fight Chavez
MARCO Antonio Barrera is dodging Manny Pacquiao as of the moment as he is instead fighting International Boxing Federation (IBF) lightweight champion Jesus Chavez on March 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Barrera, who lost to Pacquiao via an 11th-round TKO in 2003, is attempting to become the first Mexican to win titles in four different divisions.
This will be Chavez's first defense of his crown. Barrera, who fought Erik Morales three times winning two of them, initially offered the Pacquiao camp a fight in March.
But the proposition was next to impossible as Pacquiao is coming off a bruising encounter with Morales whom the Filipino boxer stopped in the 10th round last Jan. 22 in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao had wanted a second match with Barrera, whom he pummeled to submission in a career defining win at the Alamodome in San Antonio three years ago.
Barrera, however, said he is not running away from Pacquiao and would like to fight him a second time before he hangs up his gloves.
looks like these Mexicans who called themselves great legend wants to end their boxing career by the fist of Pacman. Not a bad way to end one's boxing career. If you're going to lose, better lose to a great fighter like Pacman. But this statement of Barrera seemed to have already accepted that he'll lose in their rematch. It's good he knows that. hehehe.
its to early for pacman to take a big fight like this one
maybe. i like both guys so im fine if they dont fight right now. i would like for them to fight some others and clear out some of the divisions before fighting again myself but if they fight right after the chavez fight that will be fine too
it looks like barrera is ducking him but i don't mind it. he's taking a really dangerous tune up. i don't consider jesus chavez a tune up fight. but barrera should just fight pacquiao now instead

Watch the fight.
I don't need to explain it to you. I already did in an earlier thread.
then give me a link to the relevant thread, because I am really curious about the line of thought behind your statement

much respect for you bro your not like the other pacfans who just say mab is a pussy or morales is worth shit.
thanks bro...don't mind some pac fans. i know at times they can be annoying and go overboard on a lot of things regarding pac. some pac fans are cool, some are wild, some are natural jokers and some border on being fanatical. take your pick and enjoy the ride!
everybody on this board is cool with me tho!
i'm a mab fan myself and i also like erik. these guys embodies what boxing is all about. i hope he follows up his own word by fighting pac. i'm not saying that he fight pac now. but at some point before he retires, he should agree to a rematch. i still believe it's going to happen before he retires thought. however mab is not getting any younger and pac it seems to me is still peaking if not at the top of his game. if that happens, may the best man win by my money is on pac.

i think he wants to fight but not till he belives he might stand a chance. fighting againts a bigger guy might get him ready for pacman. im sure barrera will lose to pacman but i dont think he will run much longer, after that every body has to give him the respect he deserves

mab is now a slave of his own words. since he made a challenge to pac he must now do the inevitable "walk the walk". otherwise he will be viewed as a fighter that's only good in doing the "talk the talk" but can't follow it up. :boxing:

are you dumb mab had a set date. he had to fight he offered it to pacman but as we all know no fighter is going to take a challenge after coming out of a war. what is MAB suppose to do wait for pacman or step up to a new weight class to take on a champ. morales left overs well morales beat MAB so did pacman just beat morales left overs when they meet? no because he still had something left. just like chavez still has something left. if you watched the fight with him you'll see that chavez breaks his hand in the second round and still goes the distance

Watch the Morales' fight. Styles makes fights doesn't apply to PAC.
Barrera gave out his word that he will fight the winner, then he goes off to fight Morales' leftovers.
How pathetic can that be.
Mexico's pride is a brat who cannot fulfill his word. :)
you still have to tell me how is pac a finesse boxer and barrera a slugger

I doubt that...that sentence simply means that he plans to fight pac before he retires, possibly in his last fight.
i don't see any controversy in that statement.
thank God for the few, sensible pac fans on this forum.
Barrera, however, said he is not running away from Pacquiao and would like to fight him a second time before he hangs up his gloves.

yeah, he knows he cannot change his style and he will always be what he is. A slugger below the league of PAC.
PAC has shown himself to defy even the most experts of analysis. He has changed his game and has become a deadly finesse boxer.
MAB, unfortunately can't do a miracle like that.
That's why he knows he won't win.
That's why he's ducking PAC.
That's why he knows, if he's gonna fight PAC, better do it for last, when he has milked all the money he can.
Afterall, when MAB fights PAC, PAC's gonna rip him apart and rearrange his whole body into a beat-up piece of meat. :)
hahahaha barrera a slugger
hahahaha pacquiao a finesse boxer
in which did you exactly watch them, I am really curious because barrera quit being a slugger a long time ago.
and pacquiao a finesse boxer? did you ever hear of defense?
anyway I would pick pac over mab and I think that this "not now maybe later" thing is bullshit, it's a shameless pr stunt. It's like "oh yeah I am going to fight him in 3 fights or so", so that people don't think I am ducking him right away.
I don't think barrera is going to beat pac, even at the top of his game he would not have the stamina to box all night. and I don't see barrera winning by stoppage, since pac did not go down in the 1st morales fight.
Man I am trying to defend Barerra here as much as possible, but his camp is making it really hard with what they are doing.
First, I would say, "come on, how can the guy be ducking Pac when Pac already beat him? Besides, he already had the bout with Chavez tentatively scheduled for March anyway, so who cares?"
But unfortunately, it really is a lame move offering Pac a fight right after the Morales fight only 2 months after a hard fought fight. Additionally, Barerra has the belts, so assuming that Pac wants the belts, even though Pac already beat him, it can be said that Barerra is ducking Pac.
Your trying to defend Barerra as much as possible? No your not. There is no justification to saying that he is ducking Pac just because he scheduled a fight with Chavez while Pac was tied up with Morales.
