Sorry for going on a little rjj tangent here, but i was just wondering what other posters here thought about this massive screwjob. what other fight it it comparable to?
for those who dont know, roy dominated the first round, was winning the second round convincingly before the ref made park take a standing 8 count because he was being staggered with every punch. in the third round, jones staggered hun about eight times, with the ref almost stepping in to either stop the fight or give hun a standing eight count three times. after the final bell rang, hun did not raise his hand, but walked rather dejecetdly into his corner.
Final count-a-punch statistics show
Jones Park
303 Thrown 188
86 Landed 32
28% Percent 17%
Out of 5 judges, it was a 3-2 decision for hun.
After the decision was read, hun picked up roy jones as a sign of respect.
Consequently, the Olympics were held in seol korea
hun is from korea
make your own assumptions here
what are you thoughts?
Monk was never around in the 80s you liar!
(It is interesting to keep in mind the reaction of Canadians to the bribery scandle at the same games or even the Japanese people reacting to an American female short track skater grabing her skate around the final turn to win the gold a few Olympics ago. The Japanese woman was justifiably agree as were the Japanese, but NOTHING compared to the Koreans and Japan didn't use it with trade issues or the many more American troops stationed in that country. You could also compare it to the Roy Jones Jr. defeat in Seoul and subsequent bribery scandle where dozens of Budhist monks met Jones to apologize.
Monks have been around for thousands of years Jawnny.
You guys saw the fight, why would you listed to Jawnny here? He's obviously an Alt looking to wind you up.
The Korean Government had Monks issue an apology to Jones, and he was given a gold medal by the Olympic comitee.
It was proven that it was a payoff, and doesn't really warrent arguing over.
When Korea sends monks to say sorry, you get the idea of how big a screw job it was.
Case closed.
:D
But Griffin didn't have Eddie Futch working with him for the rematch.
LOL at that bullshit. jones schooled him and would have done it again if they fought
what i dont understand is now a days people can and have gotten their gold medal taken from them either from steroids or if a judge is paid off, why didnt they investigate this and give jones his gold medal?
good point. one of the judges actully put in writing that he gave the fight to park because he felt bad he recieved such a horrible beating in his backyard. that vote was the difference between silver and gold for roy
Yeah, Montell Griffin put a schooling on him. Go watch it with an open mind.
like magic said, jones didnt expect much of griffen and got suprised. until he came back and knocked him out. remember the fight was OVER and the ruling was overturned by some power hungry clown
what i dont understand is now a days people can and have gotten their gold medal taken from them either from steroids or if a judge is paid off, why didnt they investigate this and give jones his gold medal?
Yeah, Montell Griffin put a schooling on him. Go watch it with an open mind.
nah, it was a close fight and then Jones knocked Griffin down a couple of times ... that's hardly a schooling ..... jones struggled more than usual, but getting 'schooled' is a bit over the top, dont u think??
Yeah, Montell Griffin put a schooling on him. Go watch it with an open mind.
Griffin was beating him up until about the sixth. He was then KD in two consecutive rounds, and would have ended up losing the fight, probably by KO or TKO had Jones not been pissed and hit him while he was down. Griffin then got blasted out of the ring in one round the next fight. That's a schooling.
And being equal with 40-year-old Mike McCallum, being schooled by Montell Griffin, being knocked down by Lou Del Valle, etc.
schooled by montell griffen???
get your facts straight or just shut the hell up.
watch the fights before you comment
Roy and his fans need to stop crying about the loss to the korean. Get over it please. Just like when Roy makes excuses for losing to tarver and johnson.
i know your fucking around, but at least get your facts straight. roy didnt make excuses for the tarver fights, he admitted that tarver had his number
Bullshit roy got owned on pts. Knockdowns and shit like that means crap in olympic boxing where only pts matter. Roy got owned worse than his KO by glen johnson!
Your either a lunatic or your just trying to piss off Roy Jones Jr. fans. One of the two... :D
Anyone else think that The_Pretender is a f*ckin prick that makes ridiculous and borderline racist remarks about how Filipinos wish they were like hispanics and that the dude that beat rjj in that robbery in the olympics eats a lot of kimchi? stuff and think he should be banned if he doesnt stop??
