So im watching jones vs toney again and it reminds me again of how good roy was in his prime. i mean the guy wouldnt be touvhed by one of the best in the world. not to mention, jones has rocked toney hard about three times. its a great fight to watch, because i missed some things when watching it before.
any thoughts?
are you serious? you just posted the clip of roy jumping on toneys back and used it to prove that it was a knockdown. i think you are one of the best posters on bs, but this time i dont see it.
He doesn't jump on his back. He leaps forward and lands a shot on his chin. That's where the 1st impact was made. It was a quick shot Toney wan't prepared for.
It clipped him, and sent him down because he was off balance. There are several angles if you have the brodcast.
You guys can not like it all you want.
James put him self off balance clowing, and Roy leaped in with a quick hook that put him down.
It was a knock down.
Was he hurt? Not at all, but he was knocked down.

Richard Steel is one of the worst ref in history. I've seen it over 100 times, I don't think I need to see it. Why don't you make a poll with the clip & lets see what everyone thinks.
steele is a great ref who has far over 100 championship fights under his belt. toney was off balance and going down after that hook. he then grabbed the rope in order to keep himself up, constituting a knockdown
Toney was weighing 222lbs when he went into camp for Jones, he had six weeks to get down to 168.
For Prince Charles, Toney had eight weeks to get down to 168 from 180.
james toney's last fight before roy was at 168 pounds. if he let himself get to that weight, than hes an idiot. roy schooled him bad and would have any day of the week
Toney was absoutely embarassed in that fight. Some people are discrediting Jones for that win because Toney wasn't in his 100% shape, but who's fault is that? Also, Roy suffering a broken right hand weeks before the fight, but people forget to bring that up. Just shows you how much of a talent Roy was in his prime.
ive seen the fight like 9 times u can see james is off balance falling back and roy try's to punch him and scuffs his head that is how bad a puncher roy jones is
your just a hater. calling roy an awful puncher is an insult to the sport

Steel knows more about it and saw it better than you did.
It was called a knock down because it was one. It a flash KD, but a legit one.

And who's fault is that?
I'm right & you're wrong. No point of arguing about this. You will not change my opinion & I will not change your opinion.
Again, Steel had a great vantage point. Pop the tape in, and watch the replay at the end of the round.
It's clearly the shot that catches him off gaurd and is the cause of the loss of his balance.
You can think whatever you want. It was called a KD by the ref who saw it perfectly.
You are wrong.
its so obvious from that clip that roy threw himself into james
He leaped forward to land the shot. That's what caught JT off gaurd He was not thinking Roy could land the shot from so far away.
It was a KD, and it was the shot that sent him down.
Steel was right behind Roy watching.
It's a moot point.
It was a flash KD, but a legit one, on rout to a shut out decision win.
Why don't you show the clip, you show many different clips. It was a punch, Toney lost his balance with the punch, after that it was a push that put him down.
I didn't make that clip, I sourced it.
I've seen it many times in full motion, and Roy's speed catches him off guard, and it's the punch that causes him to reel backwards.
Richard Steel is right there watching from the best possible angle.
You are wrong.
Move along.
What's your IQ smarty pants?? It was a push by Roid, you just need to wake up buddy.
smarty pants? whats next call me a poo poo head and throw sand in my eyes?

i hope this link works...
True, he lost his balance, but the push after that put Toney down. It was a push!
No, it was the left to the chin and being off balance and not ready to receive it.
Jones hand speed caught him off gaurd.
i give roy respect but he is the most overated of all time when people try to match him against ali thats when i get pissed
ali was mentioned where in this thread?
i give roy respect but he is the most overated of all time when people try to match him against ali thats when i get pissed
And that has what to do with this thread or your failed point about Toney not being knocked down legitimatly?
ive seen the fight like 9 times u can see james is off balance falling back and roy try's to punch him and scuffs his head that is how bad a puncher roy jones is
yeah awful puncher, stanley.
