I'm going to be honest, I didn't see it live. I've downloaded it and I can't stomach more than a round due to Hatton's fouls (low blows and hitting behind the head).
But I was reading a mailbag from another site and the owner said that if the fight took place in Australia or the USA, the outcome would have been different.
I doubt it, but then again I didn't see the entire fight.
If you watch the fight you will see the ref comes over to Tszyu's corner and asks if he is going to continue, at which time the cornerman turns to Kostya and asks if he wants to keep going, Kostya slightly shook his head,(thats where the brief confusion came from)the ref wasn't sure wether or not he meant no and asked again and Tszyu shook his head again and said "no" at which time the ref put his arms in the air and waved the fight was over.(It was Tszyu who quit, not his corner)
Thats exactly what happened, watch and see.
it would of been different if it was in australia!
he would definately not of quit! and the ref ( whoever it would be ) wouldnt let hatton hold tszyu all night!
I didn't attempt to lessen shit. I just stated what someone else said and if you check the votes, I took the neutral stance.
I don't care either way for Hatton. If anything I have a little respect for him. He decided to come to America... instead of opting to be a little fish in a little pond like Calzaghe.
Exactly. Greg is a card-carrying member of the Mayweather Nuthugger Club.
I'm impressed with Hatton, but by no means a nuthugger. I realize Hatton will have a tough time with Floyd and that Floyd will be favored, but I think he can make it competitive.
What I'm sick of is a full year of these threads attempting to lessen the status of Hatton and cheapen his win over Kostya. It's very predictable and subtle and it has mostly come from PBF and Kostya nuthuggers. Hatton did what 99% of all of you thought he couldn't, and that was stop Kostya. Give him his credit and stop trying to take away from it with all this "Oh, if the fight would have been in Austrailia then Kostya would have won." Who cares? It wasn't and he didn't. And I haven't heard Kostya asking for a rematch very loudly either. When a fighter feels as though he was wronged, or circumstances led to his losing unjustly then they act sour and ask for a rematch. Kostya went out of his way to congratulate Hatton and has not asked for a rematch. That should really be the end of it.
The reason these threads keep happening is because certain people simply have invested too much energy and time into downplaying Hatton over the past couple years and can't bring themselves to give him the credit he deserves for becoming the champion of one of the toughest divisions in boxing.
PS- Bloodshed and co can hit me with as much Karma as they want. I'm going to speak my mind. Dorks.
Looks like we have a Hatton nuthugger here. I don't care either way for Hatton or Tyzu. I just presented something Greg Leon said at Btalk.

it wasnt a premature stoppage nor was it a controversial decision. the ref went to the corner and the corner wanted to stop it and so the ref stopped it.
it was the corner's doing, not the refs or the judges.
same outcome.

No, it's a bullshit thread. It's been done to death, and it's just an excuse for Hatton-haters and PBF-huggers to get together in a thread and bump penises.
It Certainly wouldn't of been a different outcome, At the end of the day..Hatton was never going to lose the fight, He has a huge heart and deserved the win without question..Why are there so many Hatton haters on here?
its not bullshit it all, its a valid thread.

he did issue a warning for that low blow hatton did that cos zoo had hit him low previous, both got a bollocking, although i do think a point should of come off for hatton for that one, the ref was slack with both fighters zoo imo was beaten by then and if he had come out for the last he may of got stopped or ricky would of won it to swing the scores in his favour.
The point is that Hatton would get a point or two deducted and would not continue fighting dirty, at which point Tszyu could turn the fight. After that deliberate low blow from Hatton and ref not even issuing a warning for that, Tszyu just gave up IMO.
Tszyu quit, how could the outcome be different. I think in America Hatton would've lost a point or 2 for all the fouls, but still Tszyu quit.
zoo quit bc he was frustrated and knew he wasnt going to win. take two points away from hatton for low blows and illegal shit and we have a close as hell fight and zoo comes out for the final round
I think the only difference would be both fighters would have an equal chance to get work done on the inside. It seem that when Hatton had the upperhand on the inside the ref would allow it to go on. When Tszyu got the upperhand the ref would jump in and break them up. That's my only real argument about the fight. It was a dogfight so you have to expect some rough house tactics to go on.
People forget that Kostya is a dirty-ass fighter. He scored a bullshit win over Sharmba in their first fight by flipping him onto the canvas all the time, so imo he just got what he deserves.
i think he may have had a point or two off but no way a dq, they were both rough in there and zoo may have had a point off too, same outcome imo or at best for zoo a close points sd loss
