How about this. It was much easier for Byrd to negotiate a deal with Wlad because he is no longer owned by don king. You do not have king forcing Wlad for future options. That is why this deal was made rather than the one against Brewster. When I got home, and thought about it, the same thing came to me. Business is business!

he has a far better chance against byrd than against brewster, he's more dangerous. Well, thats it really. Brewster is a hard fight and Byrd is an easy fight. Not only does Wlad pick up a belt, making it more even in terms of money going into a rematch with Brewster, but he also gives Brewster a chnce to LOSE in an interm fight. Wlad will have to fight Brewster eventually but untill then, pick up an extra payday and a title then have a chance for Brewster to either lose and be vanquished or lose on the portion of money he gets paid for the Wlad Rematch. Very good business!

I would rather see Wlad prove himself against Brewster first! If Wlad fights Brewster first, then Byrd would never have to fight Wlad again and he wouldn't. Not even to unify. The smart route for Wlad is to make Byrd fight him now, get the Ibf belt and then unify against Brewster. Brewster would still fight Wlad even though Wlad wouldn't be the #1 ranked in the Wbo, so he can have a big money fight and try to unify against Wlad as well. An even better scenario would be for Wlad to fight Byrd and Brewster to fight Valuev and the winners fight. Then the winner of Toney/Rahman and Maskaev fights the other winner. Then we finaly have a undisputed champ! Then Vitali can come out of retirement and kick the undisputed champs ass! Hey, I can dream can't I. :D

This was a smart move for Wlad. Going after Byrd, who successfully dodged him in 05 but is now out of wiggle room, is the wise choice. Get some good work in, get a belt, make the Brewster rematch huge. Byrd is simply outclassed against Wlad. Byrd has no answer for that jab. Byrd's going to try and dance and go deep into the fight and just pray that Wlad injures himself or falls apart somehow. That's his only chance to win. So it'll most likely be very boring. Wlad'll be chasing him around the ring all night. And I guarantee you most everyone criticizing Wlad for fighting Byrd has Byrd ranked in the top 3, and above Wlad. So go figure that one out. All card-carrying Klitschko haters have always had Byrd ranked in the top 3 and yet now are in quite the predicament, are they not? Watch Byrd magically drop in their rankings between now and April. Oh it's easy to see it's already started from reading this thread. It's going to be fun digging up Klitschko hater HW rankings and posting them if he takes Byrd out. The Klitschko haters are busy at work trying to figure out a way to spin this into a way to crticize Wlad and they've found the only way to do it is bust on Byrd, someone who most every Klitschko hater had ranked at #1.
