Arum rules out Barrera vs Pacquiao or Morales LOS ANGELES — Marco Antonio Barrera, the reigning WBC super-featherweight champion, is totally out of the picture. Well, at least for now. Bob Arum, top honcho of Top Rank Promotions, said Thursday that whoever wins the Manny Pacquiao-Erik Morales fight on Jan. 21 won’t have Barrera as the next opponent. "Forget Barrera," Arum told The STAR when he showed up at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood where Pacquiao held his first public workout for his coming rematch with Morales. "If they want an idea of what Barrera is worth, it’s that Barrera cannot draw the people. In his last two pay-per-view fights nobody watched," said Arum. The bubbly American is the promoter of the Jan. 21 fight billed as "The Battle." He is also the promoter of Morales who defeated Pacquiao last March at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Barrera is being managed and promoted by Oscar dela Hoya who owns the Golden Boy Productions. Obviously, there’s no clear line between Golden Boy Productions and Top Rank Promotions. Barrera said the other day he wants to defend his 130 lb title against Pacquiao if the latter beats Morales. Pacquiao knocked out Barrera in a non-title fight in November of 2003. The Pacquiao-Morales rematch will also be in Las Vegas, at the 16,000-seat Thomas and Mack Center inside the UNLV campus. Arum said ticket sales for the fight are "phenomenal." "If Erik wins the fight, he wants to have a revenge fight against Zahir Raheem or maybe fight Juan Manuel Marquez," said Arum in finishing off any talks with Barrera. Morales absorbed a stunning loss to Rahim last September and is so eager to get back at his tormentor. Marquez is the reigning WBA featherweight (126 lb) champion but is planning to move to 130 lb. Why do you feel he is a superior promoter? Both of Barrera's last two ppv fights not good sellers, and this Barrera we are talking about. do you actually have a figure on each of barreras last 2 PPV's sold?? i heard they were not so high too but ive never seen how much numbers fana and peden did??? its strange because barrera usually is a good draw

don't know if it has been said, but this is obviously just a case of Arum being pissed off at DLH for being a superior promoter. Arum won't deal with DLH. What a faggot, I hope he dies, seriously. I'm talking about the fillipinos that just got into boxing because of manny and all of a sudden they think they know boxing and start down playing boxers because of a certain article they read somewere some of them are so bias (not sure if that how you spel biasI guess I use to be the same way with mexican boxers but I grew to appreciate all boxing and all boxing styles and I allways call it like it is. but like I said before its not all fillipino pac man fans its probably just these new booties that think manny is God. Trust me I been following boxing for a while and no matter who you are all boxers end up loosing if you keep going up against the best that theirs up their. just like barrera and morales. you have to give respect to them both for all they done. :boxing: i respect them for what they've done but fact is barera is duckin makin excuses, he aint never chanllenged pac even if he lost to him like big time, he afraid of getting beaten again, that's a fact, and dlh and Mab has been makin excuses that he had an off night or something but why dont they prove that it was an off night and challenge him, now barera wants morales to win to say that he beat but i beat him, knaw mean? look at MAB right now he fighting peden and fana who the fucc are they? he won against morales i give you taht, but wouldnt it be logical for him to challenge pac after that win? to prove to the boxing world that his loss was due to an off night and morales he's cool lets hope he makes weight and dont do a castillo on pac

arum does not promote the fights of manny, so he does not have the right to make a damn decision over fighting mab or not... Very true, Arum talks like if he has control of these four fighters- Pac, EM, MAB and JMM, he only promotes one of the four. Plenty of fights can happen among MAB, Pac and JMM and Arum won't have a finger in the cookie jar

Some of You guys arent reading the whole article. Saying how can Arum say pac wont fight Barrera if he wins... The article clearly states that because if pacquiao wins there is a rematch clause in their contract. So Morales would fight Pac again. Anyway i dont know about u guys but i want to see Morales fight Raheem again and if he wins fight JMM and call it a day wether he wins or looses.

After the loss to pacqiao, barrera has gone downhill, he hasn't lost a fight but he has lost ratings. He should gone after JMM, rather than waiting for the outcome of pacqiao and morales.

ok, well what about now, we are not hearing anything from him, he hasn't shown interest in going after anyone. No Barrera did say that he was waiting to see how the winner of the Pac/Morales fight played out. That is why he isn't following through with the Jesus Chavez fight at the moment.
