does anyone know anything about this guy? all i know is his boxing record. he was the longest reigning lightweight champion in history, he beat one of my polack boys Matt Zegan by MD, and lost the title to popo freitas. he finished his 10 year career at 37-1 with 22 KOs.
now since his hometown was hamburg and he fought mostly in germany (even though he was Uzbekistanian), that leads me to believe that most of his fights were also german robberies, like sven ottke.
can anyone tell me about this guy?

He beat Shane Mosley in the amateurs, as did Michelle Piccirillo, and Steve Quinonez. He was a solid amateur. I think he had over 300 wins. However, as history has proven, not all successful amateurs blossom into great professional careers. He did have an oK professional career, but too much time overseas. There were stellar matchups for him in the US, but he chose to do things his way. He's an ok boxer. I saw the fight with Popo. I thought Popo won, but I thought Freitas did too much running. He did hurt Gregorian in the fight though.
