i am also part of the espn message boerds. i always read the crap don rafael writes. this guy is such an idiot. he gave mayweather so much crap for fighting mitchell, but when hatton faught mausa he talked about how good of a move that was. Now za is fighting "whats his name" and don has shit to say. he tore into castillo for not making weight but said nothing about corrales mouth piece insident. he is such an idiot, not because he gives his opinion but because he is a HYP.
========there a lot of idiots who hate on floyd just because his "im the shit attitude". make any sense to you??=======
** Gotta admit, you're on to something here kid!
Sonny, you couldn't even compete in a pud pullin' contest.
Promoters control boxing and they will determine who fights who with the proper fighter's signatures. Floyd is a promoter's nightmare. Hatton is a promoter's dream. Surely even a kid can do the math!
Moreover, why does Hatton have to travel to the states which he is willing to do if the money is right, but somehow Floyd remains stateside for less money? Follow the money Junior. When Floyd gets to be as big a money fighter as he is a legend in your mind maybe he can make some decent money fights.
In the meantime, if you want to go back in history, then go back with Iron Mike. Nobody dominated any division in the history of boxing like Iron Mike, but guess what? It don't mean squat in making a match today. If history was worth anything than Ali would still be fighting and pulling down 40 mil per fight.
Get real, nobody cares about Floyd unless he does something NOW!.
he is doing something, he is fighting zab. zab might just be his toughest opponent. yeah i went back to history, the history of a courent fighter who is leading almost every pound 4 pound list. so you telling me to go back to the hisotry of ali and tyson doesnt really make any sense does it. maybe floyd doesnt want to leave because he knows if it goes the distance he will get robbed. any fighter that goes the distance with hatton will get robbed in england no matter how good they do againts him. what kind of retard will go to another country and fight a champ that is looked like a god by england boxing fans? it is alot easier for hatton to come to the states because he already has some followers here, and there a lot of idiots who hate on floyd just because his "im the shit attitude". make any sense to you??
firts of im not here to compete in a spelling test. rafael has a little something called editors. you heard of those. another thing i never said pbf was my number one guy, i know winky decerves the bigger cut and will beat the kid. why do you only go back 3 years? why dont you go backone more were he beat castillo twice. the first one is contraversial but still a win. in the past 5 years pbf has faced more top 10 boxers than hatton has faced his whole life. i noticed that you didnt say anything about hatton wanting a fight with gatti, why is that? hatton needs to step up againts cotto to get any respect. mayweather is stepping up to zab and will destroy him, then he will go after hatton. if hatton can make it past gatti. or maybe hatton will fight some other guy cotto knocked out? since you claim you pay attention fill me in. who is your boy going to fight next. why should pbf have to travel out side the states when hatton has never left his home? i like hattonbut guess what he will get dominated by pbf. he is better of looking for a fight againts the winner of corales castillo. even you have to admit that would be a better fight for him than againts pbf.

First off, Rafael might be a complete idiot, but at least he's literate. What grade are you in junior, 7th?
2nd, I told you to PAY ATTENTION. Floyd ain't done squat the past few years and like Roy fans started to turn on Roy for fighting garbagemen, what few fans Floyd have are starting to turn on him and reporters like Rafael are doing him a favor by ragging on him.
As far as Floyd calling out Hatton, well big whoop. Though Floyd makes you wet your pants, calling out Winky and Hatton means nothing if Floyd ain't got the cents enough to add up the finances. Wink is the draw, not Floyd, so nobody is gonna give Floyd 80% of the purse to watch Winky beat him down. Floyd won't travel to England to fight Hatton where all the money is. Floyd wants to give Hatton short money to travel to the US to fight in a smaller promotion? Promoters are laughin' at Floyd, and I'm laughin' at Floyd and YOU. Floyd don't really want the money anyways. All he does is give it to his lawyers to bail him out of trouble.
So now Hatton is a free agent and being courted by HBO and may well come to America where the fight can be made, IF Floyd takes short money. He ain't the draw and the best fighter he's beat the past 3 years is Gatti who ain't the class of the division. Floyd might be the best fighter in the world, but nobody cares anymore except Zabby who might be hungry enough to knock some sense into PurtyGal!

I SAID "If me and three other 12 round pros were siting around talking about what it is like to be in 12 round fights, get hurt in a fight, etc etc.. and you were sitting there with us... u do know that your input into a conversation on THOSE aspects of boxing would be pointless, right?(no disrespect intended."
The YOU said "so only people like you should be able to comment or write about Boxing? Very shortsighted my friend. And yes, I do feel I could have a place in your conversation."
So NO, I am not grandstanding..I am just replying that you would have NO place in THAT conversation regardless of how much boxing you watch. It's not an insult to you by me saying that, either, so please don't feel like I am trying to ffend you because I am not. It is merely that many, many fans of boxing do not truly realize what type of boxing knowledge comes with actually being in that ring for a pro fight.
i already apologized if I came across wrong. Pointless might be abit harsh..but I certainly agree I couldn't have insight on that situation. When I say I could be in a conversation, I was referring to in general. I guess I didn't read the post as thouroughly as I should have. And then I got a little pissed by what I thought were dickish comments by you.
Of course I realize the knowledge you get from being in the ring is unmatched. Initially I don't think that is what I said..or least meant. My point was meant to be on "non-fighters" having credible opinions on Boxing. I probably didn't pontificate well enough.
apologies
:boxing:
I never sparred with Reggie but we are friends from way back and I was there in 1992 when he and RJ had real good sparring in pensacola when we were all in camp together. Reggie is doing real well and is actually on AOL now

As a note... when you read the GREEN MILE article.... try and imagine what it must be really like and then double that. When that article first came out I had so many fighters email me , saying that it hit it right on the head..and I had so many fans emailing me telling me that they liked hearig the first hand account. I had NOBODY email that never fought before telling me that they could know what it was really like... if you had 10 fighters in a room and DAVE , too, talking about that walk to the ring and the crazy feelings and thoughts you experience... does Dave REALLY think he could relate and add serious input??????
what is the Green Mile article? I haven't seen that. thanks
by the way, I have been in the ring..but not pro and certainly not even close to your level. As mentioned before in a previous post, I wasn't good enough and decided I should try football instead :D

you obviously didn't read my previous post? where I agreed that I couldn't know about being in a 12 round fight? I never claimed to know how it felt. I claimed that I could talk and write about Boxing. You seem to rearrange the argument to make your point.
bottom line is that I have a great deal of respect for you as a former fighter..as well as anyone that steps into the ring. I also understand I can't relate to certain things in the ring. Stop grandstanding..I think we agree for the most part. ;)
The BEST tactic to counter guys that have that slick upper body movement is to keep feinting them... fake them to see what their patterns are in terms of avoiding you... try to feint them and plan to follow up with punches, the JAB mainly, that will go where they usully end up. So you kind of run them into your punches

FROM DAVE: "so only people like you should be able to comment or write about Boxing? Very shortsighted my friend. And yes, I do feel I could have a place in your conversation."
FROMICE: No, I am not saying that only boxers should talk about boxing, thats stupid. I am just saying that there is OBVIOUSLY certain areas of boxing that only a boxer could discuss accurately or realistically and that's not a diss on non-boxers it is just common sense. And YOU think you couldsit in with me and 3 other twelve round figthers and talk about what it is like to be in the 12th round, etc etc???? No you couldnt , man. You could talk boxing with us,sure, and really you probably know more about the game as it is today (I have never even seen eithe rof the CASTILLO-CORRALES fights) than a lot of boxers but when it comes to in-the-ring stuff that fighters talk about with each other there is NO WAY u could relate if u never did it. NO.....WAY...POSSIBLE and only someone that never fought before would dare think they could.
man, you're not reading what the man is writing. come on, there is no way you can comment on some aspects of anything without actually experiencing it. a lot of boxers couldn't even comment on some things Scully and other true veterans who have been in title fights could.
I think I know everything (and I'm not wrong) but even I admit that there are some things I couldn't comment on with much credibility because I haven't experienced them.
I've worked as a small time director in both film and theatre, also as an actor. When I worked on crew, I would hear other crew members give their opinions on things about whatever play production we were working. And 95% of them had no real clue what they were talking about. Some had never done anything related and some had, but not in the same capacity at all. I understood a lot of the director's or actors' decisions because I had done their jobs before. Some things can only be taught and understood through experience.
Yeah we can have opinions on boxing, but we can't know what it is like to be in the ring fighting in front of a huge crowd, the weight of the world on our shoulders like that. Not unless we experience it for ourselves. Of course we can know certain things, like that Robinson was faster than LaMotta, Tyson was stronger than Holmes, etc. Heck we can know a lot about boxing, but not what it is like to be in there.
Even Mayweather doesn't know first hand about everything. As a pro, he doesn't know about losing...yet. Zab'll teach him first hand what it feels like to get knocked out in April.
I'm not claiming to know more than him. I'm also not claiming to be able to speak with experience about being in the 12th round of a championship fight. That is not what I meant. I apoligize if thats how it came across. I just don't like when people ride in on their high horse and claim superiority. Humility is better.
Obviously Mr. Scully has vast knowledge and experience. We can all learn alot from him. The whole "you've never played the game" routine gets old imo. I wonder why he wastes his time on a Boxing board with us know nothings. He must be trying to promote something :D
happy new year
first of you dont know how far my knowledge about boxing goes so shut the hell up. rafael is an idiot and if u read some of the other messages on this thread you will see im not the only one that thinks so. can i ask you this do you ever have your own opinion or do you just go with what refael says. "Floyds jocksniffers" WOW thats a good one rafael help you with that one?? anybody here will tell you that floyd has beat better fighters than hatton and zab combined. maussa was a good move for hatton? if you knew anything you would know that floyd called out hatton and hatton said that he was not ready to fight him. and know theres talk about hatton vs gatti a guy who just lost to mayweather. and i belive pbf is fighting zab, if zab beats whats his name. so who is he avoiding?
First off, Rafael might be a complete idiot, but at least he's literate. What grade are you in junior, 7th?
2nd, I told you to PAY ATTENTION. Floyd ain't done squat the past few years and like Roy fans started to turn on Roy for fighting garbagemen, what few fans Floyd have are starting to turn on him and reporters like Rafael are doing him a favor by ragging on him.

rafael is a no knowledge loser. his columns are crap and he couldnt box a round with gary coleman
Dan Rafael? I'll tell you one thing He knows a hell of a lot more then the lot of you here. He has credibility with real boxing fans, not with mudslinging, immature little kidslike the majority here.
well guess what im a real boxing fan and i see him as an idiot. i see you as an idiot because you say he knows more than me. maybe he does but you dont know that, so untill you find out what i know keep quiet
