Bernard before he fought taylor was fighting good comp oscar eastman, but is taylor that good or is hop just old now ala roy jones were it just hits you one day
I had Hopkins winning both fights, he outlanded Taylor in both of bouts. Taylor landed more jabs and threw more punchs but was still outlanded overall and in power punches.plus Taylor never landed a signifcant punch in either fight.
I can't remeber exactly but I think I had the first fight 116-114 Hopkins and the second was 115-113 Hopkins.
Either way Hopkins wasn't even close to being beat up in those fights and was more than Taylor could really handle. taylor himself said that he was hard to hit cleanly and that he has mre learning to do. Hopkins got the shit end of the stick basically.
Hopkins is still good but he isnt a crowd pleasing fighter, so he is always being over analysed. but whatever, he is still good and I'm picking him to beat Jones march 11th.....
i think he should hang them up he beat alot of good fighters... i thought the both decison losts where accurate... i mean he is a good fighter and all but its time...hopefully he will come with an immpresive win over roy jones on march then i would keep my mouth shut either way he should retire
I picked he can still beat top comp because he could but he should do the latter and honor his mommas wishes.......by no means did Taylor show me much more than he is good and can survive but a relentless puncher like he will end up facing after he is outboxed by Winky like Lacy or a number of SMWs who are up and coming Taylor may not have the great career we hoped for but who knows.
  b-hop turn the clock back 5 years and he knocks taylor out. there is a 13 or 14 year age difference. i am 18 years younger than my ex-wife. i am still handsome, wealthy and in good shape. but she kicked my ass and left me for a younger man with less than i have. you can't beat youth put it perspective. b-hop is a better fighter i think he won the 1st fight and taylor held enough to win the 2nd.
first, you really should take advantage of the search feature here at the forum, also the options in the poll are pretty broad. Taylor really hasn't exceptionally proven himself yet to deserve alot of credit, and Bernard Hopkin's does seem to be showing a few slight signs of aging, however this is discussed, in detail, in the 100 other threads about the matchup.
I thought Taylor fought well in the 2nd fight. Hopkins is a tough guy to fight, but Taylor managed to grab half of those rounds by force. That's impressive enough to me.
Top notch analysis, man. ;)
I don't claim to be a professional. You developing an e-crush on me with all the winks, and rolleyes?
It's true, both were unimpressive. Top notch analysis of my top notch analysis.
Nah, he IS old, come on, the guys' 40!!! but it didn't just hit him one day. He's slowed down in the last couple of years. There have not been too many fighters that have been competitive at that such advanced age. The guy is a marvel and still many guys believe he beat Taylor too, and Taylor suppose to be what? 26,27 in his physical prime and be the next big thing.
I think he should just retire but also think he could still be very competitive and beat a lot of the top guys.
As I have posted in a similar thread, we are now in a new era of boxing. Gone were the days where fighters wins fights show boating and showing fancy moves to impress fans and judges.
Like it or not buddy, now a days fighters have to go up there in the ring, hurt their opponents and show complete dominance to be appreciated. And B-hops doesn't have that in his arsennal, but I believe he can still fight and beat top oppositions. He maybe 40 but his body is not BATTLE SCARRED as Barrera, Gatti or Corrales. :p
Why? Because of his fighting style. :)
do you think he should retire, and sorry if you already posted this topic
It's a combination of the two. Taylor is still green, and Hopkins is quite old. However, I think if you give Hopkins back 2 years and give Taylor 2 more years experience, the result is the same. Taylor by UD.
