Toney vs Rahman takes place...this basically will determine whether all of the Toney hype is worth it or not...
Briggs WANTS Peter...whether it happens as their next fight is yet to be seen...but I have a feeling that Briggs's constant calling out will bait Peter into a showdown BEFORE the end of 2006
then Brewster WANTS Valuev and is content on unifying...
Well I don't know who else will fight Valuez...Rahman the "WBC Champion" :::sticks tongue out::: is busy with Toney...that leaves Brewster and Byrd...I don't see Byrd calling out anyone, so I have a feeling Brewster vs Valuez will come off...
if these fights take place, my picks are:
Toney UD Rahman
Peter TKO Briggs (in a good fight)
Brewster UD Valuev (UD depending on whether Valuev has a chin)
No telling what Byrd is up to...
byrd wont fight until october, and it will prob be against a mediocre opponent. if he loses, we will see a bunch of nuthuggers talking about how he is past his prime and how he good he was in his prime.
Where did you hear that Byrd won't fight until October?

Damn I am starting to miss Lewis.
I never thought I'd say that, but I agree. You could criticize Lennox for a few things, but he never dodged anybody and kept the division moving. Byrd is a total roadblock for the division, sitting around totally healthy and dodging fights.
Lennox took on so many dangerous opponents and punchers, and most at a point when they WERE dangerous, like taking out the garbage. The only fighter I think Lennox avoided was Wlad. When Lennox beat Tyson and Wlad beat Mercer, then HBO and everyone else was literally begging Lennox for a Wlad fight. Didn't happen. So then Wlad destroyed McCline, and after that NOBODY wanted to fight Wlad, Lennox included. That's the reason the Sanders fight happened- he was the only fighter with the balls to face Wlad. Something like 18 HW's turned that fight down before they got to Sanders. Then when Wlad loses to Sanders what happens? Lennox gets back in the mix, starts doing interviews again, gets all excited and immediately starts planning a comeback fight since Wlad was out of the picture for awhile. BUT I will say that I think it was more Manny advising Lennox to avoid Wlad, because of how impressed he was with him, than Lennox being scared to face him. I don't think Lennox was truly scared of facing any heavyweight.
Wish I could say the same for the current IBF "champ."
I think it's ridicolous that anyone thinks Toney deserves to be in a ring with Hasim Rahman.
and what has Rahman done since landing that 5th round punch? draw with a fat Tua? Lose to an old Holyfield? Loss to Ruiz? beat a string of out of shape no hopefuls? get knocked out worse vs Lewis in rematch?
people talk like he IS the HW champ by default
Shouldn't Byrd look to avenge his loss to Wlad (period)? Throw some criticism at Byrd for dodging Wlad this year, instead of piling it all on Wlad, who took on the most dangerous puncher in the division (Peter)- a guy NObody wanted to face. Now, nobody wants to fight Wlad.
.
No, you dont understand. Wlad is the only Heavy that needs to avenge his losses. Byrd did not, Brewster did not, Ruiz only avenge 1 loss out of 6, Rahman did not. It would be hypocitical to call out Wlad for not avenging his defeats in the same thread Byrd, Rahman, and Brewster are named and not point the same fingure at them.
But Bozo is right in one thing. Byrd will be easier for Wlad. I just do not see how Wlad fighting Byrd is a bad thing? Wlad-Brewster 2 would be a better fan fight, but Brewster said NO!
Damn I am starting to miss Lewis.
lol, take off your Nut Hugging glasses.
Brewster's already stopped Wlad you fool.
Yet Wlad targets a guy he's alreadly beat (who happens to be feather fisted) and that's the best choice for him according to you?
He should be looking to avenge his loss. Period.
He has the option of lobbying for both sanctioning bodies to inforce a title shot, and you're telling me it's a coincidence he'd prefer Byrd?
Come one.

Brewster has said he only wants unifications. That's a fact. So wouldn't it make sense for Wlad to go after Byrd again, in order to get a belt, and THEN he could get a fight with Brewster to attempt to avenge his loss?
Yes, he's #1 contender for Brewster, but should Wlad sit around for a year until Brewster is forced to fight his mandatory, unification or not?
It actually looks like Wlad will need the IBF and WBO to enforce his mandatory, because neither Brewster or Byrd seem to be looking at him as their next opponent, and Wlad has a date set with HBO already I believe.
Just one of the reasons why boxing is a frustrating sport to be a fan of. Fighters like Byrd squat on their belts, and fighters like Wlad are avoided, even after fighting their way into #1 contender position. I predicted this immediately after the fight, that after seeing him go 12 full rounds and take punishment from a puncher like Peter and win fairly easily that NOBODY was going to be interested in fighting him. Wlad is going to have to wait for the IBF to threaten Byrd with stripping him by a certain date to get a fight with him, and EVEN THEN I'm not sure if Byrd will fight him.
As for Brewster, he is obviously eyeing Valuev, if you read between the lines. Brewster has no problem fighting in Germany, and I'm sure he would make a nice payday in a unification with Valuev over there. And fighting Wlad is WAY more of a risk than fighting Valuev. If I were Brewster, I'd do the same thing. But from a fan's perspective, it's still frustrating.
But this is what should happen. Wlad should fight Byrd to get him out of the picture, he seems like the only sure one to beat him. Brewster should fight the Russian Giant, and Toney's fighting Rahman. So that leaves Wlad vs Toney/Rahman, and that winner fights Valeuv vs Brewster. If Wlad makes it to Brew or Valuev, those would be the biggest fight purses. Imagine how built up Brew vs Wlad would be by after all that. Or imagine the Wlad/Valuev fight in Germany $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
And Sultan Ibragimov will emerge the Champion. :)

Floyd will tare Judah apart...
thats laughable, somebody provides you were an interview in which brewster makes it clear that he wont fight wlad cause its not a unification fight and you spin some bullshit to say wlad doesent want brewster. fuckin hilarious. the fight wont happen until it has to happen because brewster prefers to fight guys who dont have the best jab, right cross and all around technical boxing skills in the heavy division. you talk about wlad wanting to take the easy way out well this is clearly a situation of brewster wanting the easy way out knowing that he can beat any of the champs easier than he could beat wlad and would earn prestige without risk.

Except that he's the #1 contender for the WBO title.
Face it, the guy wants to fight Byrd to protect his own chin.
That's all there is to it.
Brewster's the bigger puncher, and the more dangerous fight, so his preference is to fight a feather fisted guy who he's already beat rather than attempt to avenge his loss.

Toney and Haseem, now were talking. Real boxing.
Ridiculous or not it's the best for the division. Let the top rated fighters fight each other until we come up with one Champ. :)
I would definately pick Toney to beat Rahman. The best fighter that Rahman has beaten in a long time is Monte Barrett. This isn't saying much, and in my opinion Rahman looked terrible against Barrett. All Rahman can do is throw a jab-straight right combination. The only thing he is good at is at throwing the most basic possible combination in all of boxing. You think he could beat a boxer like Toney? No way. You can't jab-straight right your way to a win against someone who has as good defense and footwork as Toney.
Valuev looks to be the most vunerable belt holder at the moment, i can see him getting embarrassed by a few of the top guys, he may need to be knocked out though, if they're fought in Germany, or at the very least totally outclassed, which is very possible.
 King has Valuev? FUCK it! So that means Ruiz was fed to the lion. :D I really thought the HW division will be more lively after that Ruiz loss. I didn't realize that King will still have control over that goddam belt. :o
Ya, King has options for Valuev's next 4 fights and was telling everyone how he wants to bring Valuev to the US and how Valuev is, and I quote, "the eights wonder of the world". That was one of the funniest things I've heard coming from King. He must be really desperate to bring white HW that he controls into the mix.
Klitschko needs to fight Brewster
Winner of Rahman Toney to fight winner of of Klitschko/Brewster
Byrd should just retire...
Valuev should fight Peter or Byrd with winner fighting Klitschko/Brewster-Rahman/Toney winner, and thats it theres the champ for yall...
Except that he's the #1 contender for the WBO title.

i dont think thats true, Brewster has been saying in most of his interviews that he wants unification and that hes allready faught a mandatory that means he doesnt want Wlad. Klitschko will fight anyone that steps up first...
I dont care how you slice it.
People who hate Wlad are going to have every reason to when he unifies the division.
All this:
Brewster will check his chin again
Toney will outskill him and win a decision
is total nonsense.
Brewster got lucky, Toney is a short fatass.
Both of them should plan to lose by knockout. Believe it.
