Lets say Roy fights well one last time, what in your mind does that do for his overall standing in boxing history? In my opinion it has to do somthing, B-Hop is still a good fighter. Whats your take on Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins and how this fight will play out?
Hopkins is still a good fighter but he has shown signs of really slowing down this year. This fight would of had an impact in 2002 but not now. Roy Jones is gunshy and Hopkins doesn't really get going until the last half of fight now.
I agree the fight is kind of too late as far as significance. But at the same time, it would like good on Roy's resume to have a second win over Hopkins. Hopkins isn't completley gone.
I think it does just little for Roy's career. Hopkins is still a decent fighter.

Nothing at all for either fighter's legacy. As others have stated, too bad they didn't do it a few years ago. I'm going to get the show though, since it is more than likely the last fight for two great fighters, for sure both are destined for the hall of fame. I just hope that they both don't get too "cute" though and that there is some excitement. :p
this fight is pointless like vargas vs mosely who ever wins will not have what it takes to take on a current champ. winning this fight will make b-hop happy for retirement. but if he wins he might want to avenge his other losses to tayler. we cant have that tho
I don't think this fight will do anything to either's legacy.
If Hop. wins, will that open the posibilities for a third fight between these two, I hope not.
you really need to stop reaching for ways to save Roy's legacy, bud. this fight is certainly not the way. this is all about money. I bet Roy and B-Hop feel real lucky to have such easy to impress fans like yourself who will pay money to see this.
Hey Diego, I like Roy Jones. He is one of my favorites. I watch my favorites, its as simple as that. I know the fight came at a bad time. But I still would love to see RJ win his last fight.
this fight should be treated like a charity event at best, all proceeds go to the aid of some charity. it's the least they could do. in reality all they're trying to do is cash in one one more payday before they head for the sunset. i am a huge hopkins fan and i know that this fight has the potential of being a bore fest, and the sad thing is, i'm probably going to buy it.....sometimes boxing is a sickness for me..... i can't help myself...
Even though the fight is pointless, Roy Jones Jr. in my opinion can still fight a good fight. I believe the loser of this fight should call it quits.
winner and loser should call it quits!

Regardless of what this fight means (which everyone is right, it means nothing at all), I think Roy is going to win. He was scared of getting knocked out by Antonio Tarver, but I doubt he is worried about Hopkins knocking him out, so hopefully he won't fight as cautious as he did against Tarver.
Roy is the one who is going to have to carry this thing. Hopkins isn't changing for anyone and I expect him to fight Jones the same way he fought Taylor, doing nothing for the first half of the fight. If Jones fights like he did against Tarver, there is not going to be any reason for the first seven rounds, just make it a five round fight.
I hope the old Roy Jones shows up. (And I am far from a fan).
This fight is pointless.
But hey, these guys gotta make some $$$$.
And why they put two serious counterpunchers together is beyond me.
I see a boring fight in the making.
:nonono:

Beating Hopkins proves nothing and is meaningless. Has nothing to do with Hopkins..I love B-Hop.
If anyone says this fight means anything, they are lying themselves. It means only $ for both. I've already said it, but this fight is a joke.
