FROM JUY JUY'S TRUSTED SITE: "(Chris Eubank) 1984 N.Y.C. Golden Gloves, 2nd place in Light Welterweight class losing to Aaron Davis"
I told you before and I am telling you again that whatever site you are getting your amateur info from is way off... OK ? I told you Iran Barkley didn't go to the worlds in 82 and I am telling you that Eubank didn't have the amateur career here in the states they say he did... your info tells you he got a silver medal at the 1984 NYC GG at 139,losing to Aaron Davis in the finals. Well, I am here to tell YOU that it is a FACT that the 1984 139 pound NYC GG title at 139 pounds was won by John Wesley Meekins (NYC REC)and he beat David Colon of Suffolk City PAL in the finals to win it. Aiight, Killa? LOL. (What do you guys call that again? OWNED????) :)

wow, serious ownage by the one and only iceman scully
All Eubank says in his autobiography is that he unexpectedly got to the semi-finals of the Golden Gloves with no trainer (what Golden Gloves he means I don't know) and then won the Spanish version. To get to the National Golden Gloves I'd of thought you'd have to win the New York Golden Gloves to qualify??
So Eubank cant lie? Boxers do it all the time.. agents, managers do it.. if he said he got to semis of nyc gloves then maybe..but if he says he won the NYC GG then he is LYING. and back then it was referred to not as the suffolk county name you know it as now
i dont know if this helps, but it comes from this link- http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/discussion/other-boxers-1/356125/
heres what it says-
Eubank adapted well to the sport, and before entering the professional ranks, he got to the semi-finals of the ‘Golden Gloves’, and won the Spanish ‘Golden Gloves’.
ALSO... I have many other amateur publications.. Eubanks is not in them. Email your sources and tell them they are LIARS
Ice
Well I guess Eubank himself is lying then, he even says in his autobiography how he unexpectedly got to the semi-finals of the Golden Gloves with no trainer and then won the Spanish Golden Gloves.
Why you make such a big deal out of it anyway??

I have been saying all along tht JUYJUY posts things that he either knows are not true, or just read somewhere...all the while hoping everyone on here does not have the means to refute what he says.
Scully busted him badly in this thread.

Eubank had a TERRIFIC stiff jab,a fight with Toney would 100% depend on whether Toney could read it to avoid it then counter because otherwise he would get grinded down. If Eubank used the right tactics and took it seriously then Toney would struggle to win any of the first six rounds against Eubank(based on styles and Eubank's eliteness). Roy Jones jr. though had the reflexes and natural speed to get out of the way and make Eubank pay.
According to the Boxing Monthly profile in May 1989-
Eubanks lost his first five amateur bouts,
No mention of boxing at NYC golden gloves,
Eubanks showed his fiercely improved skills by getting a silver medal at the 1984 Empire state games,
Eubanks went to the USA golden gloves in St Louis as a replacement and got to the semifinals with no trainer,
Eubanks won the Spanish golden gloves in december 1984 beating number-one USA jr.middleweight Milton,
Eubanks stopped boxing and gave it up right after he won the Spanish golden gloves,
He won his first five pro fights with no training because he only fought to pay for his mums phone bill he ran up,
According to Eubanks autobiography-
After 18 months training he unexpectedly got third place at the golden gloves then won the spanish version of the golden gloves,
