Valero was suspended by the New York State Athletic Comission last year after a dark spot was discovered on an MRI. It was the result of a motorcycle accident years earlier.
There are currently two schools of thought on his condition. Some physicians are saying he is at risk of serious injury should he continue to fight, while others believe he is at no greater risk than any normal person. The problem is that so little is really understood about how the human brain works. He is currently appealing the decision, and should soon be examined by team of neurosurgeons. New York has agreed to lift his suspension if the medical team reccommends it.
very interesting.. thanks for the link above elveiel.

18-0 with 18 FIRST ROUND KO'S
John, this is what you said about Valero back in October, on the following linked thread http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50237
"NOT SO FAST, look at the records of all the guys he fought. MANY guys would have the same record as he does if they fought the same exact guys"
To which I responded, back then, "If you've been following Valero on MaxBoxing.com, Doug Fischer is of the belief that Valero has been the real deal. The problem is that with the discovery of a past head injury, he will never be able to fight in America again. Reliable reports had him chewing up major, major competition in sparring."
So, all I wonder is, what changed your mind that you got excited enough about him this time around to make a post?
Hope your day is going well...
MAN! I really wanna see this guy fight, I don't care what anyone says, 17 fights, 17 FIRST ROUND KOS, that is an impressive feat.
I'll upload you a link.
I must admit Valero looks great sparring but when i have seen him fight he's looked wild, he's just looking for 1st round KO's against shit opponents. I'd like to see him step up and face a few names.
Dougie Fischer of MAXBOXING picked him to beat Morales right now, this was pre-raheem too.
lol, a comment like that, could start some serious harrassment and ignorant talk from a few members on this board. :p
as far as my feeling goes, that's a very bold statement, now i'd really like to see this guy in action.
Looks to me like he hasen't fought anyone with a winning record. What's the medical suspension for?
TOOK THE WORDS OUT MY MOUTH THIS GUY NEEDS SOME COMPETITION BUT HE AT LEAST HE DIDNT LOSE TO THESE GUYS.
Most fight fans are aware of him.
He is not allowed to fight in the U.S....he's under medical suspension.
I would love to see him in action.
Yeah I have read somew things about him looks good so far. Waht is the medical suspension for??
