How come no one talks about this fight? Check this out. Hopkins says he wants one more fight before he hangs them up and he wants Tarver. Now Tarver is one of the top guys right now and that would be a solid fight but the truth is it will probally still suck.
Tarver is a counter puncher and is hardly aggressive and since the Tito fight, Hopkins has been less and less aggressive and his opponents havent helped that, including Taylor. I mean Hopkins fights have been super boreing lately, despite how good he has been.
Now think about a fight with Lacy. He is the perfect opponent. It wouldnt be boring like Hopkins vs Taylor or Tarver. Lacy would bring the fight straight to Hopkins and would try to KO him from the jump. Then we could see Hopkins skill go to work and see how he could handle him at this age. It is also more better because he doesnt have that far to go like he would if it was Tarver at 175.
A Hopkins-Lacy fight would be super exciting and you know Lacy would be down for it. It would be great to see Hopkins go out in his last fight in a super exciting one against a big puncher at a higher weight. Everyone would want to see this fight. It would sell big time with boxing fans.
What are your thoughts on this fight? Would you like to see it and who do you think would win and how?
Wow, I was about ready to think these ppl had reached a whole new level of delusion, jeez, wierd. Ricky you bugger, made me look silly in the process of 30 others lol, still though, worth bumping mate. Shit's hilarious, still makes you wonder what on earth peoples judgements are like, to this day.
I'm genuinely quite concerned that some people are STILL hyping Lacy. Seriously guys, he hasn't got the instincts, skill and never will, jeez. He was so dramatically out classed against Calzaghe it was ridiculous, he wasn't and isn't on that level. Calzaghe beat Hops, so how the fuck would a 1 dimensional, limited skilled 2 punch fighter beat Hops with extremely good defence.
Gobsmacked anyone would think this. Beggers belief. Really does put ones judgement into question.
Its an old thread from before the Calzaghe-Lacy thread. _Ricky_ bumped it.

And how exactly this fight helps boxing as a sport exactly? Any champion there, any undefeated fighter or anyone coming up? No. This is another Zab vs Mosley for you to pay. Not me.

These posts were made about 3 years ago before Calzaghe beat the hell out of Lacy.
That's why they're so funny, especially because the same people are STILL criticizing Calzaghe.

...Yeah, I will believe he can trade with Lacy when I see it.
Lmfao, this is hilarious.
The same people who now discredit Calzaghe's win over Lacy were the ones who were bigging him up to be god.
Bernard Hopkins is too smart to take such a risk of a fight, again, Jeff Lacy is no Jermain Taylor.. if he needed money, the fight might make more sense, but Hopkins is smart, he's managed his money from the De La Hoya fight, is now in control of Golden Boy East (which i'm sure makes him $$), and can live comfortably the rest of his life.
Will never happen, as BHop will be retired before Lacy's next fight.
So.. with that in mind...
Lacy KO1!!!
HAHAHA! this is the biggest peice of bullshit ive heard! hopkins has never been ko'ed before, he would definately not get knocked out in the 1st round! he would be able to see lacys big looping punches comming and block or dodge them.

Hopkins would never be able to keep up the pace!
Jeff Lacy is a guy who fights three minutes of a round at full speed...people talk about the Hopkins v. Tito fight like Nard was an active fighter and then he started to slow down...watch the first 5 or 6 rounds...he wasnt very active.
He would die of exhaustion against Lacy and his counter right may land when thrown but I cant see it doing any damage.
Lacy or Calzaghe would beat Bernard and I have had this opinion for at least the last three years, to big and to active.
Dude dont get this Hopkins mixed up with that Hopkins. I can understand if you say certain things now but to say Hopkins couldnt keep pace at the time when he was fighting Tito is crazy. He changed his style in the Tito fight and has been the same way every since. If you watch all his fights before that including the one directly before that against Holmes, Hopkins was active the whole fight and fought non stop for 12 rounds and would bully guys
