You look at all that Hopkins has acomplished and i guarentee when you look back at Hopkins career and look back at Taylor's (in the next 10-20 years of course), Hopkins is the one who will be remembered by boxing historians. Just remember my words. My prediction.
Taylor's only two really significant wins are disputed and always will be.

taylor is a young kid who is a recently crowend champ. the kid needs time to create a legacy
Okay, and on that point, i might be able to agree there. Maybe i haven't seen everything from Taylor yet. Maybe he does have potential to get even better. I hope this is true. But if the kid is gonna parade around with those titles forever, i better start to see himself giving himself A's on his gradecard after his fights real soon and with good reason.
Lol, this right here speaks VOLUMES!! Taylors "parading" around with his titles?? Thats the most bitter comment I've read so far from anyone on the board. DAMN right he's parading around with HIS titles, as well he should be! What champ wouldnt? Does it kill you THAT much that Nard is no longer champ??

disputed wins?? Last nights was aUD win..disputed only by bitter fans, ones that would be bitter enough to actually start a thread making a claim that cant even be proven for many yr's to come. Unless youre psyhic, you dont have any idea YET what Jermain will and will not accomplish in the remainder of his career..to claim you do is downright silly. I understand it's hard to accept a new champ when the old one reigned for so long, but damn, some fans act like Nard got old ONLY when it was time to face Taylor! It's rediculous, and blantant refusal to give Taylor his due credit.
It also sounds like your saying that nard was such a lousy fighter in general that he got beaten twice by a guy that wont even be able to keep his title belts a yr.
The bottom line is anyone who takes credit away from Taylor is acting like a sore loser.
and i never have taken ANY credit away from Taylor's performance in either fight, he did well in both.
The bottom line is anyone who takes credit away from Taylor is acting like a sore loser. Taylor deservingly got the wins and they weren't robberies. If they were blatantly and grossly scored wrong like Foreman-Briggs for example then we could take credit away.
People aren't gonna look back on Taylor's career and say the wins mean little because he barely won. He won, end of story. The only thing they can say is that Hops wasn't at his prime, which is true, so Tayor still has a resume to make.
yea that's true! Restless is actin like a sore loser today......
Taylor beat Bernard, he thinks it's a robbery. Then starts a thread dissing Taylor sayin he'll neva accomplish what Hopkins has.
When people tell him that get ova it, he then tries to bag on Jermain and starts a thread on Winky vs Jermain, IN WHICH HE SAYS Jermain would avoid Winky at all cost if it wasn't mandatory fight......
What if he beats Winky, Jeff Lacy and whoever becomes the next big thing? It is entirely too early to talk about Taylor's legacy or lack there of.
than he'd b wrong, thats y its was a prediction, not a fact
hmm

I'm tired of hearing about "disputed" from Hops' fans when the fight was close.
lol, that's what "disputed" usually is referring to, a "close" fight. It's "disputed" between people who won the "close" fight. ;)
hmm
Taylor's only two really significant wins are disputed and always will be.
Well that's just too fucking bad, padre. Taylor won and that's the end of the story. I'm tired of hearing about "disputed" and "robbed" from Hops' fans when the fight was close. Most fans felt, feel, and will continue to feel that Taylor edged out both fights by a close margin. Every close fight doesn't go to the champ "just because".
But anywho, Taylor probably won't surpass Hops' record for defenses. So what? Hops' record may never be broken and Taylor won't be able to fight at 160 his whole career like Hopkins did anyway.
Still, if Taylor steps up and takes on the Winky fight everyone has to give him eternal props, no matter how good you think he is.
I'm pretty sure Taylor/Hopkins vs. Wright is mandatory next year.
My other thought is, it's easy to want to take the fight with the guy that holds the belts, because you want the belts. Now that he has them, let's see how he picks and chooses fights. If he continues to go by his word and face quality, more respect will, of course, be earned.
Restless, you need sleep man.
Taylor's carreer is on the right track! Wit Winky and possibly Lacy on the scene you cant count out the posibility of Taylor being successful and havin great accomplishments........
For the last time, im not. I just beg to see more from this kid than what i've seen. I'm not arguing he won two close fights, i'm not arguing that he earned both, i'm arguing (IMO) his future against other, younger opponents if he keeps fighting at the level he's currently fighting. Which is, LIKE HE HONESTLY ADMITTED, at a B level.

so youre telling me that it was more impressive that hopkins took on a kid, then the fact that the kid wanted hopkins. Hopkins ducked good fighters for years. In taylors last two fights he has taken on a better opponent then hopkins did in 9 years. And in his second title defense he will have taken on better opponents then hopkins whole career.
OF COURSE it's more impressive! What are you smoking? (literally?)
Hopkins, at age 40 (FORTY) gave a young, 20 something fighter a chance at his titles.
It's natural and expected for a young, up-and-coming fighter to want to fight the champion. Every young fighter is like that.
The hell are you talking about? Hopkins gave Taylor the fight, he didn't have to. wow.
Yall are honest to god, ignorant. Don't say anything, don't reply, just watch as history unfolds and you are forced to realize that Taylor is HBO hype.

Actually, from what I saw in this fight, I think Taylor won. Sure, 115-113 is pretty close, but he did win and did win against an all-time great. Taylor is going to get so much better and he has a chance to dominate middleweight just like Hopkins did IMO. I say a chance because in combat sports, you never know what will happen.

LMAO! You hit the jackpot! Tell that to your boy Hopkins who paraded his titles forever and never took risks. At least Roy Jones fought at heavyweight :D
The other thing is (and i've mentioned this before), Taylor's a big critic of himself, and again, for the 2nd time, i know in his heart, he wasn't impressed by his victory last night. I hope he can learn more from this fight just as he did their first fight and really have a "true" un-disputed victory over a key opponent, after this happens, i promise the criticizing from me will cease.
And reading Sucka's comments, i agree. I never said he won't have a successful career or he doesn't have a chance to beat future quality opponents. I just feel like he's earning all this glory too much, too soon when you consider that both this fights have come down to the wire and could've swung either way, but went in the younger, more active fighters favor. Just don't start bowing to the monument until there's good enough reason to build it, that's all i'm getting at.
Hopkins may be old, but Taylor hasn't reached his full potential yet either.
Exactly. Restless_438 said "Taylor's only two really significant wins are disputed and always will be." Taylor is only 27. How do you know Taylor will not have another significant fight?
It's obvious that Restless_438 needs some rest, LOL. We all go through these times, just sleep it off brutha :D
