Fighter of the year 2005!

I'm still not getting this "Castillo - Coralles" thing at all, you know. Yeah, it's doubtless they'll both share in the "FIGHT of the year" accolade, but how does that translate to them as individual fighters, particularly Coralles? "Here's our fighter of the year... he won the first one by spitting out his gumshield on purpose, not once, but twice... then he got KTFO in four rounds in the rematch. What a warrior!" corrales is a warrior but hes not fighter of the year

I agree totally Anorak but i had to include them in the poll because being boxingscene i'd get cursed for not including them. Thankfully they did get the least votes so at least most of boxingscene are thinking with their heads and not their hearts!

hmm As much as I like Hatton, Taylor deserves it more (if he WINS). Two wins in the same year over a top 5 p4p guy who was formerly recognized as p4p number one definitely gets you to nod. If Hatton had rematched Tszyu or beat Floyd, Cotto, or Castillo after Tszyu then you'd have to give it to him. I'm sure Hatton will try to get one of them in the ring in 2006.

I know we haven't reached the end yet but with a month to go who do you think should be awarded the honor? If jermain Taylor beats Hopkins convincingly on Saturday he may be considered. I think Ricky Hatton is a strong contender too. Vote on it! Too soon to call... I voted for Hatton as I don't think Taylor will win the rematch

Ricky Hatton. Beat Kostya Tszyu and Carlos Maussa to unify the titles. Opened up allot of peoples eyes to people who doubted this fighter. There is no way that Taylor should get it for beating a 40 year old man twice, which he wont the second time.

jermaine taylor should be the fighter of the fighter in 05 if he beats hopkins...

I'm thinking that Ring is going to give their rather prestigious award to Hatton. They love the guy, and they didn't score Jermain having a win over Bernard in the first fight so it would take a rather convincing win this time around to get them to select him, I think.

of course you think hatton deserves to be there... obvious... but well, back to the topic... i would have to agree with you on taylor, if he beats hopkins again, he will surely be the fighter of the year... but i would like to throw jeff lacy into the mix... he had some decent fights this year... diego and JLC could also be contenders... :D yup if taylor defeats hopkins once again he should be fighter of tha yea....why??? i shouldnt even have to say it lol hopkins was on a roll winnin all his fights untill jermaine came hahah
