Peter Responds to Briggs
The support team of heavyweight contender Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter say their fighter would be happy to grant Shannon Briggs’ wish for a showdown. “It’s a great fight for Samuel. Tell Shannon that Samuel is fighting on December 15 (vs. Robert Hawkins at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida) and then he’s going back home to visit Africa,” says manager Ivaylo Gotzev. “But after that, he would love to come back and fight him…if he seriously wants to get in the ring with Samuel.” Peter, 24-1 (21 KOs), is coming off his first defeat, a 12-round decision loss to Wladimir Klitschko in September in which he scored three knockdowns. “We could make this happen as early as next spring,” added Gotzev. “Any time Mr. Briggs wants to take that step up, we’ll make sure his wish is granted.” Peter’s camp was responding a FightNews story last week in which the comebacking Briggs said that contenders David Tua and Calvin Brock were “afraid,” to face him and expressed the hope that Peter would be willing to fight. “I'm sure we can get the TV networks to buy a Briggs-Peter match,” adds promoter Dino Duva of Duva Boxing. “It would be a great crossroads fight for both guys, a real fan-interest type of fight. I will do everything I can to accommodate Shannon and end his career once and for all. I think Madison Square Garden would be an appropriate place for that, don't you?”

I think this would a great fight, Peter looking to bounce back from the Klitschko loss and get right back in to the hw mix and Briggs is on a comeback knocking bums out and also trying to get back on top, great fight.....
yeah because last time I checked, skipping some bum to face Rahman for the WBC HW title or taking Bostice as a tuneup for the feather fisted David Tua is safe...
not saying Rahman is anything great, but what is so wrong about Toney skipping that one bum to face Rahman (who many claim feared Vitali's bone joints into retirement) for the WBC HW title?
or a young HW prospect like Brock keeping busy and setting up a surprising showdown with David Tua?
What has Brock done since his exciting 'coming out' party against Mccline? And besides Ruiz, who has Toney fought that has any creditability? Lastly, I haven't heard that Rahman-Toney bout is set in stone yet.
Dino Duva is such a dick. All he ever spews out of his maneur mouth is how Peter is going to end this guy and that guys career. He should just shut the fuck up.
peter by KO, Tko
Briggs gets ahead early with his skills and movement, then gets lazy and tired (just like his last number of fights), Peter catches him in the middle rounds.
And can see him getting over on Peter. Can't really say that I have any other reason than that Briggs, for the first time in his career, sounds like he's in a good place mentally. That's 80% of the fight right there.
LOL...just... LOL :lol1:
I like Briggs

Briggs stands no chance and to tell you the truth, never did stand a chance in the division to begin with. Peter by early KO and back in the title picture.
Either one of these fighters could KO the 4 chumps, though Byrd would make it tricky.
Haven't seen Briggs in his comeback, but he's a big boy, bigger than ever and might hit harder than Wlad. He's never faced the kind of power and strength Peter's gonna bring except with Foreman or Lewis, and Foreman was holding back a bit on really going after Briggs.
I'd like the winner to KO Rahman's lardass since Rahman ain't gonna want to face Maeskav.
Sorry to be off topic but your signature goes to show what a farce the "Nuremburg Trials" were. First off, Hitler wasn't a private but a corporal. Yes, thats a low rank, just above private. However, he was a fanatical soldier that did demonstrate almost suicidal bravery. I believe he received battlefield commendations for his actions in the war. That was Hitler's appeal as a politician, being an anonymous corporal in World War I from a relatively modest background. His political appeal was that he represented the common man as opposed to other politicians in Germany.
About his leadership abilities militarily. Many of the high ranking members of the German Officers Corps had little respect for him, however on some occasions his descisions were indeed brilliant, and other times extremely poor. Obviously he ran things in an a least somewhat brilliant manner if you look at Germany's war time successes.

I went to the peter/Klitscko fight in Atlantic City a couple months ago... The scene was cool. It looked to me like Peter could definately use some conditioning. There were a couple rounds where he barely even threw a punch. With the proper conditioning, he could be a dominating force. Lets hope he doesn't turn into the next Riddick Bowe.
in my opinion it should have been a draw maybe even a win for Mercer, Briggs is going to get torn up, I just saw briggs-mercer and 44 yeard old mercer hurt briggs a couple of times, man I thought briggs was a much better fighter man he sux, there are people on here trying to say he punches harder then wlad man what clowns...
I don't think he punches harder than Wlad. Wlad has probably one of the most devastating punches in the HW division right now. If Briggs didn't take so much time off, he might have been a better fighter. The last thing a fighter loses is his punch,IMO. Mercer still had a punch when he fought Briggs.
He didn't draw with Lewis that I know of. I thought Lewis had won that fight. It doesn't matter. You're right, a prime Mercer would have beaten Briggs. Briggs will stand in there and trade punches but he would be doing it against the wrong guy.

briggs is overhyped with a padded record. hes had two great moments:
1. he wins a bullshit decision over foreman (a decision briggs was suprised to recieve).
2. he KOd an ancient rey mercer, whoop dee doo.
if briggs goes in against peter, peter will destroy him.
Agreed! I think the same. I don't think it would be much of a fight.

the prime Mercer would have beaten Briggs brutally, Im talking about the Mercer that beat Morrsion to a pulp and drew with Lennox Lewis.....

I'm liking this matchup because both guys are willing to step-up and take the hard fights rather than the safe ones that some current prospects seem to be doing.(Toney,Brock)

If Briggs wasn't so muscular he would have the stamina to last against Peter. That being said, he will put up a good fight for about 4 rounds and then Peter will tko him in the 5th. I don't think i've ever seen Briggs in top shape.
This is going to be the best fight of the year , if it happens !
Briggs has problems with Boxers , and Peter has shit boxing skills , I see this fight going the other way then most , Briggs has a much better chin the Wlad , Has about the same power , and Briggs is a big fucker ,Probably come to the fight around 260 , and lets not forget Brigg has much better Boxing skills the Peter !
So I see Briggs Getting the job done by MD !
this will be a really good fight, but Briggs is old and gonna need all the boxing skills he can muster to beat Peter. Peter will likely knock his ass out somewhere in the middle of the fight, all that time off Briggs has taken will probably get him fucked up in this fight
