Who would you think was the welterweight with the fastest handspeed ever?
My vote would be for the one and only Thomas Hearns. Leonard you could say was faster, but Hearns had one of the quickest jab's I've ever seen. Match that up with the best right hand in the history of boxing and you have a great, great fighter.
Camacho is usually one of the very first fighters I think of when a "fastest hands" thread comes up, and personally, I think the JLW & LW version of him just may have been the fastest hands that I've ever seen...Just amazing hand speed when he was younger!
Welterweoght, though, I don't know for sure, as I didn't really watch too much of him past his JWW days.
Definetly.
Camacho in his younger days was one of the fastest fighters I've ever seen. Leonard was definetly also one of the fastest welterweights ever. He is on par with Hearns or maybe better. It's really tough to call.
I'll always remember Leonard's burst of punches in the 13th rd of their fight, just after he wobbled Tommy with the 1-2 combo. He threw maybe 12 ounches and 8-9 landed clean, all in about 2.5 seconds.
Yogi, what would you think about Camacho? I think he deserves a mention He was also one of the fastest welterweights ever.

Too bad there aren't any films of Robinson at welterweight. Why is that anyway that they never filmed him at that weight? :(
There is some footage of Robinson at Welterweight, as I've seen some footage of him defending his title against Charlie Fusari. There's also at least some footage of him against Sammy Angott, but I've heard that the quality is so bad that it's very nearly unwatchable.
There's no doubt that Robinson was filmed more often back in his Welterweight days, but you can blame WWII for some of the film being destroyed, as well as your normal & gradual damage to the film they used back in those days.
And you know, there's probably some more footage of Robinson out there today, but it just hasn't been found yet. People associated with boxing are constanstly discovering stuff that was thought lost forever (often found in attics, library basements, etc.), so...who knows what else will turn up in the future.
He was fastest at jr. welterweight IMO
Taylor would get my vote at jr. welterweight as well. My goodness, his handspeed was otherworldy at that weight class.
Thomas Hearns or Sugar Ray Robinson were the fastest in my book (I am taking a logical guess at how fast Robinson was at welterweight, seeing how quick he was a middleweight). I often wonder about that fantasy matchup. They both had several styles to choose from, depending what the opponent did. Too bad there aren't any films of Robinson at welterweight. Why is that anyway that they never filmed him at that weight? :(

Thomas Hearns? The fastest hands for a Welterweight.... ever?
hmm
Why is Roy being talked about? Granted he was very fast, but he was never a welterweight.
Fastest welterweight ever...hmm, that's though. Handspeed I'm going to go with Hearns. That's what made his KO's so deadly...never saw that right. His handspeed is underrated due to the attention his power gets. Ray Leonard and Robinson close behind. Hard to judge Ray Rob due to film. Perhaps he was faster.
course he did say p4p...i wasnt tryna show no one up...just maken sure
i didnt think you were tryin to show anyone up i was just trying to clarify if it was necessary.
