Obviously there are 3 names people talk about when discussing Floyd's future opponents: Hatton, Judah, and Margarito. I thought we should make a thread and discuss who each of us wants to see Floyd fight the most, and it doesn't have to be limited to these 3.
I'll go first. I want to see him fight Hatton. I'm tempted to say Margarito, but I'll go with Hatton since I think it's more of a fair fight since Hatton is more on Floyd's size level. I think it could be a really interesting fight. It wouldn't be a barnburner just due to Floyd's style. It'd probably look similar to Floyd-Castillo II, unless of course for some strange reason Floyd just wants to be more offensive vs Hatton. I think Hatton would give Floyd hell. Hatton is strong and lively like Castillo with underrated skills, and he could take any of Floyd's punches. His hands are a bit faster than Castillo's though so it'd be more difficult with Floyd.
Next? Who do you WANT to see Mr. p4p fight?
He needs to fight Zab, Margarito and if he gets lucky DLH and even Cintron. He needs to fight the best at 147, he skipped Hatton Tszyu and Cotto even though I think he would of beaten both of them..I have no clue why those fights werent made.
hmm
Just because someone thinks that Floyd lost to Castillo in their 1st fight doesn't mean they hate him. Floyd deserved a loss that night to many people, inlcuding a lot of respected and old school boxing scribes on this website. Floyd was HBO's poster kid at the time of the fight and they all felt he lost as well.
I still think Floyd is good though.
Are you on crack? I don't hate any fighter. I dislike some, like that pussyboy Corrales who beats woman and in turn got his ass beat by Floyd and Castillo.
But I don't hate Floyd. He's got good skills. Your questions sure come out of the blue, asshole.
Dismissed.
And Floyd is not better than Roy, not yet. He still has a ways to go.
Maybe I have you confused with someone else because one of your Roy fans was going on about how Floyd lost to Castillo in the first fight. The only reason anyone thinks Floyd lost is cuz HBO said he lost because at that time, they HATED Floyd Mayweather. Shit, Tarver-Jones I was a lot closer than Mayweather-Castillo I, in which I had Mayweather winning by two points.
And can someone point to me a fight in history that showcased more talent between two fighters than Mayweather-Judah would? Hagler-Leonard? MAYBE, but I doubt it. Keep in mind, I'm talking most talent, not BEST. Mayweather and Judah definitely have the most talent in the sport.
I think the ideal situation plays out like this:
Floyd fights Hatton, and in a fight that is a candidate for fight of the year, he unifies the titles.
By this time, Cotto will have won a few more fights against top 10 guys and earned a #1 ranking by one or all of the associations.
He defends the title against Cotto and then makes to move to welter.
Beats Margarito to earn a number one ranking to challenge Zab for the title. (or vice versa should Zab fight Margarito for some reason and lose, you never know).
Challenges Zab to become the undisputed welterweight champion of the world.
In another great fight, Floyd emerges victorious, and this and his previous victories have cemented his status as a future hall of famer.
At this point, Floyd will have nothing left to prove, and can either A.)move up in weight, or B.) chooses his ideal weight and takes on all comers until he either retires or loses the title, which will in turn cause him to retire or make an Ali run to regain the title, and possibly have a great trilogy with this yet-to-be-determined fighter.
That's how I'd like to see it play out.

Well the title of this thread is "who do you want to see Floyd fight?" and seeing as how 5 or 6 people have already mentioned Margarito then it is a falsehood to say that no one wants to see that fight. Obviously, that fight is in demand, and Arum already put up a lot of money for it. The Margarito fight is not low-reward for Floyd. I don't think Floyd would win at all, so if he did, I'd give him a lot of credit.
do you hate Floyd simply because he's better than Roy Jones or because he runs his mouth just as well?
hmm

I think a Hatton - Mayweather match would kind of be like the Leonard - Duran matches. Maybe Hatton wins one, but Mayweather wins two of three. I'd much rather see him fight Hatton than anyone else, including Zab.
After Hatton, Cotto or Zab (assuming he wins vs Hatton).
I just want to ask, why would he fight Margarito right now? No one wants to see that fight, so there's no real payday in it. Right now, it's Zab and Hatton that everyone wants to see put against him. Margarito is a big risk, with little to no reward. It's a stupid fight to take, and it does little for his legacy, and his finances.
The fight i most want to see is Floyd and Cotto.
Hatton vs. FLoyd would be outstanding as well, because we would really see what Floyd is made of. We know he has skill, and we do know he has heart, but how much? He has never been serious trouble in the ring, outside of the Castillo fights, but not trouble like Corrales had. I want to see FLoyd get KD and then see him get off the canvas and win a big one, and I think if anyone at 140 could, it would be Hatton.
Zab would pose a great challenge for Floyd as well, and he can hit HARD. He is almost as fast as Floyd, and naturally a bigger guy. Could Floyd handle a guy with comparable speed and more power? This fight would be a dream come true for me. I also think that the fact that they are former friends and recently have traded verbal punches would add the kind of fuel to this fight that would make it a barnburner. Make it happen Arum.
Margarito is tall and has great reahc, so I don't really know how Floyd would approach that fight. Sure, Corrales is a tall guy with reach, but he doesn't fight tall so that kinda kills the height factor. Margarito would fight tall and stick to his gameplan so long as it works, and could give Floyd his biggest challenge yet. Plus, Margarito has heart for days.
Three fights I really want to see.
Mayweather / Mosely would have been interesting had they been able to meet when they were both in their primes.
Same thing with Mayweather / De La Hoya
A prime Kosta Tszyu would have given Floyd fits and possibly frustrated him to a point where he would have made a Sharmba Mitchell-like mistake and get KTFO. Possibly. Floyd is uncommonly calm and cool in the ring.
Still want to see Vivian Harris and Mayweather. Lotta shit talking between the two in the past, and Harris is a good fighter. I think the Maussa fight was a fluke.
Witter / Mayweather would be nice because Witter is a pretty good fighter IMO and he would talk ALOT of shit prior to the fight and be humiliated in defeat.
Mayweather / Corley 2 because I loved that fight personally. Corley became a favorite of mine after that fight.
Mayweather / Burton i.e Augustus 2. Emmanuel would make this interesting, although I don't know if he could hang with Floyd at this point at all. Augustus is a great fighter IMO and I love to see him fight always, regardless of the decision.
Wright / Mayweather. Southpaws don't bother Floyd at all, and his lead right hand is fast and powerful, and I think underrated in terms of power. People don't like to refer to FLoayd as a puncher, but I see him stopping fighters and knocking them down quite often. Sure, he's no Tyson, but not many punchers are of that caliber either. Biggest problem for Floyd here is size difference and Winky is a rare talent like Floyd. Maybe not as fast, and maybe not undefeated, but he's beaten some of the best, and done it well.
Sorry, rambling, I'm wired right now.
I'd like to see Floyd stay at 140 and do something there instead of "skipping" the division.
He could unify the belts by beating Hatton (Which he will if the fight happens).
He could fight Cotto.
He could fight Castillo again bound to be a crowd pleaser. (realistically they are 1-1)
He could fight Vivian Harris yeah i know he lost to Maussa but that was a messed up Vivian.
I would give him more respect for completely rulling the 140 lb division with an iron fist, taking on all the tough challenges there and showing his stuff. Than him calling out welterweights and skipping the challenges and joining the senior citizen tour with DLH, mosley etc.
However if he does go to 147,
1) Antonio Margarito
2) Zab Judah
Imagine beating both Hatton and Zab...
That would do so much for his legacy...
i agree , damn imagine if floyd beats hatton, zab then margarito in a row.
