ESPN is reporting that Bouie won't be in Hopkins' corner because his wife is sick and will be with his wife. The question is...does Hopkins need Bouie or is Hopkins already prepared in techniques and strategies fighting the young hungry Jermain Taylor?
With the circumstances with someone on his side being ill, is there a chance that Hopkins will come out and put on an all-time performance? I think that Hopkins is going to win anyway, but could these turn of events motivate him even more, as with Douglas vs. Tyson? I know it isn't quite as extreme as with "Buster" but maybe. Not that Hopkins is going to be a huge underdog like Douglas was though. ;)
I don't think there's anything else that Fischer can teach or coach to Hopkins. At this point in his career, Bernard should be able to function without his trainer in his corner telling him what to do. If Jermain beats Hopkins convincingly in the rematch (I don't argue with the decision in their last fight) it's because Taylor proved to be the better fighter.
For the most part Hop should be ready. My only question would be what if Hopkins gets into trouble in the fight? Thats the time he will want Bouie in the corner with him.
This is a bad omen for hopkins, a truly bad omen indeed
no it ain't, he's already been fucked by the "fight night curse", and lost his titles, the worst that can happen now is he gets decisioned again, but it won't happen, this time Hops will knock Taylor out
im hoping and belive hopkins will beat taylor, similar to tha william joppy beating. and if he duz lose, everyone will say "he didnt have his trainer" bs like that
Bouie Fisher has already done all he can for Hopkins. Hops was a finished product a couple of years back.
It would be great if Bouie was in his corner like the rest of his fights but it's not to be. Hopkins is a pro's pro and I'm sure he'll put in a good performance.
..there was no doubt in my mind that this was gonna get brought up eventually on here.. absolutely not, it won't affect his performance, Hopkins stated it was strickly about his health and that he will dedicate this fight to Fisher.
