Just wondering who you guys think is better. Looking for informed opinions, not patriotic putdowns.
Seems like a lot of British hometown favourites get the decisions in the fights I've seen. Not that I've ever seen a total ripoff...anyway, you could say the same thing about most countries, probably. And nobody seems as bad as Germany.
I've been trying to watch more British boxing these days so I'd like to know ahead of time if I should be keeping an eye out for shady officiating or if in general they're on the up and up.
There have been some bad decisions when two British fighters are fighting for a British title over the years... That's mainly to do with promoters having a lot of money invested in a particular fighter.
When foreign fighters have come to the UK shores and been treated a little unfairly on the cards in the last 3yrs:
Victor Polo got a draw against Scott Harrison, My scorecard read 3 rounds too Victor Polo.
Injin Chi vs Michael Brodie 1 - I had Chi winning the fight again by 3 rounds, it was scored a draw.
I can't think of too many off the top of my head... But neither of these fights were out and out robberies!... They were close fights with a hint of help from the judges.
Okay, good to know, thanks  .
I remember seeing a Cosme Rivera fight in Britain where he TKOed the hometown favourite and everyone was really quiet. It's kind of cool when a guy can go into that kind of pressure and come out with the win, like in Zab-Spinks II.
I've voted "both equal" ... It really depends on a lot of things as to whether they'll be biased or not - (Promoter/fighters/venue/etc).
Are there any British ripoffs you can think of in particular?
I guess club-level fighters in all places get the decisions when they're fighting in their hometowns. Happens all the time on FNF, and in Canada the Canadian fighters get the decisions a lot.
