Federal commission rejected!
It's over. At least for this year. The House of Representatives today killed a bill that would have created a U.S. Boxing Commission within the Commerce Department. The vote went 233-190 against legislation that would have established a "boxing czar" appointed by the President to oversee the state commissions. A corresponding bill in the Senate passed earlier this year. The bill was supported by Democrats 146-50 and Independents 1-0, but rejected by Republicans 183-43. Ten congressmen did not vote.

hmm
McKay is a racist idiot, but he has a point. You ppl should explain WHY you want this to pass and really ponder if it will actually do any good.
I myself am not too sure. Although at 1st glance it'd seem like a good idea.
I was always against this and let me ask you one question.
Have any of you here actually read the proposed legislation? If you havn't, what are you basing your support of this bill on? The fact that its ABC/ESPN's interest for it pass?
I'm a republican. I was hoping this would pass. Quit stereotyping people.
....Same here, and it is a shame. Yeah, those dems are so warm hearted. They love killing babies and letting convicted killers dodge the death penalty. Those old softies.
Anybody know why the split is the way it is i.e. democrats heavily in favor, republicans against? I suppose it could come down to the republicans not wanting more government, but this isn't exactly a major policy issue.
It is pretty lame if partisanship is so bad they can't even look at boxing and put their agendas aside.
