Danny Williams and Audley Harrison have a fight coming up on December 10.
You could say that Danny Williams has the massive advantage, on paper. However when it comes down to it, what has Danny Williams achieved that Audley Harrison has'nt other than a tainted win over Mike Tyson a while back.
Personally I think Audley will outbox Danny Williams. Here is an article about the coming match-up:
Danny Williams believes a devastating sparring session with Audley Harrison several years ago gives him the upper hand going into their fight at the ExCel Arena in London December 10.
Williams claims he beat up the then amateur prior to Harrison winning the gold medal at the Sydney Olympics, and that those mental scars will haunt the unbeaten heavyweight.
"All I can see is the old Audley having flashbacks from our sparring session and wanting to quit when the pressure is on him," said Williams, who has had one comeback win since failing in a world title challenge against Vitali Klitschko 12 months ago.
"I can't see how it will not affect him on the night. He will claim that he was an amateur back then and that it was five years ago but in his head he remembers what he went through."
Harrison has built an unconvincing 19-0 profile since turning pro and has been universally criticised for the slow pace of his career.
Williams remains unconcerned of any threat, prefering to recall that sparring session.
"I remember when he came to the gym and agreed with my trainer Jim McDonnell to go four rounds with me.
"The first two rounds were good and I was getting the better of him and he was starting to blow like an old man.
"At the end of the second round he said to Jim that he'd had enough and wanted to get out. Jim said no as we agreed to do the four rounds.
"He reluctantly stayed in for the third and that's when I got to work on him and really started smashing him up.
"At the end of the third round Audley said `That's it, I'm getting out,' but Jim tried to encourage him by saying `If you quit now you're accepting the silver medal,' to which he got back in and did the last round, but he was in a right state after that.
"Audley said he would come back and do some more sparring but we never saw him again and the first time I have seen him since was at the head-to-head press conference to announce our fight."
The bitter rivals go head-to-head on the same card as Matt Skelton's British heavyweight title defence against John McDermott.
It is another low-key defence for Skelton, whose initial opponent Kevin McBride withdrew earlier in the week.
Basildon's 'Big Bad John' has made slow progress through the British ranks, and takes a 19-2 record into the contest after losing to Mark Krence for the vacant English title 12 months ago.
Danny Williams isnt as bad as everyone is saying but then mayber he's not as good as some are saying. I think Audley will win but the reason its a big fight is because of Danny's talent. I wouldnt be surprised to see him win, and you've got to give him respect for the amount of time he managed to stay in the fight against Klitschko even if he couldnt land one punch.
Danny Williams was a better amateur than Audley, and Danny Williams after just a handful of pro fights was supposed to be the next big thing.
Danny had more potential and natural ability than Lennox Lewis, if Danny is at his best he beats anybody in the HW division today. But he probably won't be at his best.. I mean the guy's head is all over the place, he's mentally unstable and you never know which Danny Williams is going to show up, and he's extremely over-weight! But the guy has tonnes of ability, we've always said that since he was a kid.
Williams has beaten everybody he's ever stepped into the ring with other than Vassili Kirianov and Vitali Klitschko.
The guy's a chump..
For the biggest fight of his career he has to come in not trained and fatter than James Toney?
What a fucking bum!
I hope he gets KTFO cold!

Williams is a idiot...
I hope he gets knocked out cold for at least 5 minutes so he can have second thoughts about what he just said...
"It will still haunt him...."
uh....sorry mr williams, but not everyone is a PUSSY like you.
Williams is not a pussy. He stood his own against Tyson and refused to stay down against Klitschko. He hung in there with the best and KOd one of them. Come on, I am not his fan but he has my respect.
Yeah i admit, Williams has gone further i suppose. But as Tha_Greatest said, "the what?". Those titles are insignificant, and it would take about 8 fights for Audley to top that feat. He could quite easily get good recognition by the public and by the boxing boards in 8 fights, enough at least to surpass those achievements of Williams.
Nevertheless, Williams loses to Harrison on December 10.
It'll take Audley 8 fights to top Danny's career? He'll be what??? 57? 58?
Don't get me wrong, Danny's OK but I'm not a fan. He's inconsistant but talented. But so far Audley is all talk and all the talking of ducking and such is only viable if you have something to offer to the bigger name contenders you are calling out.
He makes money here in England but will probably demand an unreasonable percentage. He is no draw anywhere else. Beating Danny Williams will not change this.
I would rather Danny Williams ended the 'meteoric rise' of Audley.
However, if Audley actually is so confident, take a pay cut and get in a few quick, televised US fights (ESPN, etc.) show your quality and actually prove your case for a top ten fight.
Danny is (was) very talented but inconsistent. Hope he pulls it together for a few more fights and retires on a high.
This is not the first time a fighter called WILLIAMS has made comments about what he could do to a fighter due to a sparring session previously,if i remember Carl "the truth" Williams made similar comments before his fight with Tyson and we all know how that ended up.Not that i would ever dream of comparing Tyson to Harrison.
But im still goin for a Harrison win, more than likely points.
Hey man, pleeeaaase.
There is no Xenophobia here. Me and Martin (top knowledge) were having a decent discussion about Williams and Harrison. No-one intended for any offence to be caused. I should have said the British Belt is insignificant on the world stage, which it is.
i have to agree, it seems like all you have to do to win the british title is beat julius francis
Fuck me... a lot of thinly-disguised xenophobia, outright ignorance and hatin' on my boy Danny!
I say: fuck the lot of you, especially Mr. "the British belt is insignicant".
May the Battle Bus roll on!

Yeah, Danny ain't done shit... he only KOed Kali Meehan in 32 seconds... it took Rahman (the WBC heavyweight champ of the world) four rounds.
Danny needs to come out with the intention of knocking harrison out in 32 seconds. i have never seen audley touched witha big shot but i have a sneaking suspicion he wont take it very well.
clearly harrison is the better boxer.. but he has been able to keep guys off of him because they have been afraid to get close to him because oh his physical size and solid jab. williams needs to smother this guy and put pressure on him. harrison isnt very good in tight, he likes to find distance with the jab and throw powerful, accurate lefts when he sees the chance.
williams will be the first guy that can match harrisons physical strength and he will be the first opponent harrison has fought in a long time that wasnt shittin in his brotches when the opening bell rang.
Williams KO3 in an upset. gotta like the odds in this one.
Williams +170
Yeah, but in all truth - Danny Williams tried to go on to better stuff but just wasn't good enough to cut it.
The youngest person to ever win a British title was the welterweight David Barnes who won it in his 13th fight, (That fight was a points win, and the result was booed by the crowd, and was classed as very controversial)... Either way it would be one hell of triumph for Amir Khan to get himself up to British title level within 12 fights!
Hey, Amir Khan has stated, he wants to become the youngest World Champion coming out of Britain. I would back him in earning the British title within his next 12 fights, quite easily. So that would be a latest of 15 fights until he gets his hands on a belt. That sound reasonable to me, and Amir Khan is heading that way. He is really determined to succeed, and quickly!
British title is not an insignificant title... It's more prestigous than most of the alphebet world titles on the market.
Winning a British title fight isn't a walk in the park... and EVERY great British fighter in history that's gone on to win a World title has held the British title at some stage!
There's a hell of a lot more to boxing than just the World titles, and World title fights. There are some amazing fights at domestic level!
I think the belt in American called USBA is a similar thing to a British title, and it means you're the American champion. I'm sure young fighters all over America would like to get their hands on that belt to prove that they're going on to great things.
Of course yes. The British Title is good for fighters, its never an unhealthy sign.
But i would argue that a British Title is something in the grasp of Amir Khan within his next 12 fights. I suspect much less than that in fact, but 12 as a maximum. For Danny Williams to have only won a British/Commonwealth title at this stage, is simply not good enough. Of course if he had won the title, and then gone onto better things like you say, then all credit to him. But he hasnt.
Thats how i see it.
I think Harrison is the favourite because Williams hasn't got much left... And Vitali really beat the crap out of him in his last fight. (Not sure what that's taken out of him).
But.... Williams has achieved far more than Audley Harrison in boxing.
Williams has won and defended the British and Commonwealth title 8 times. He's challenged for the European belt before, he knocked out Mike Tyson, and he's challenged for the legitimate heavyweight championship of the World.
OK, he was un successfull in his two bids to become World or Euro champion, but you have to beat enough good people to get yourself into that position.
Audley Harrison isn't even in a position to challenge for the British title yet, let alone European or World title.
Danny Williams has acheived far more in his boxing career.
