In a word, no.
Talk about all time great nicknames..."the fighting Zulu"
Hey Bozo I dont know if this is something you remember or could find with that incredible GIF gift you have been blessed with but if I remember Ackinwande's fight with Lewis correctly LL was knocked down and it was credited with a slip, it was close but was it a knockdown?
I dont have the tape anymore and have not seen the fight in a long time...if it is within your powers take a peak and tell me if I was imagining things?
It would be appreciated!
Hide did a pretty good job against Vitali until he got caught in the 2nd round. He won the first round easy.
Until Klitscko hit him and Hide suddenly didn't fancy the job anymore!
Hide had quick hands for an HW, but a glass chin.I don't think it was so much his chin, i think he had a glass heart. He went 26 straight with no hit of chin trouble and was banging Bowe around for the first 2 rounds of their fight. Then he got hit by Bowe and he didn't go down straight away, he loomed around a bit. That strikes me as more of the bully being exposed. Hide was an on top fighter whom looked great when he was beating a guy but he couldn't take anyone who fought back!
Herbie's Nickname
Was Herbie Hide ever any good or not really?
I would've paid anything for his nickname to have been Herbie "The Love Bug" Hide. Silly, I know, but it still would've been loads better than what boxrec has listed: "Dancing Destroyer."
I'm suddenly imagining a heavyweight dance off between Evander Holyfield and Herbie Hide, with the singing provided by Roberto Duran and Larry Holmes.
I'm suddenly realizing that sleep deprivation isn't the healthiest thing out there.
Was Herbie Hide ever any good or not really?
Riddick Bowe claims that Hide is the hardest puncher he ever faced
(probably because he just wants 2 forget the Golota beat-downs though)
Akinwande had height, reach, and half-way decent power
he lacked killer instinct, and seemed to be unwilling to trade shots with guys who could fight back (lewis, mccall)
he had the outer-workings of a champ, and the inner-workings of...let's say, Golota
I dont know how true it is but i've heard a lot of fighters say he's a huge puncher.
