Prime Rahman was not fat(arreola), slow(gomez) or flat-footed(sosnoski) so Vitali had to fake an injury to avoid him.
Rahman was able to knock down 2 people that Vitali failed to knock down and that was strong chin Corrie Sanders and ATG Lennox Lewis.
Smart move for Vitali to duck prime 2004 Rahman..
Rahman's the Champ, and Vitali will be nothing in the history books. At least Rahman KO'ed Lennox Lewis, and now he's a two time champ. If Rahman beats the other champions, you can't argue that he is pretty damn good. Honestly, other than the Ruiz fight and 2nd Lewis fight, has Rahman EVER looked bad?
He got screwed by the referee against Tua in a fight where he'd won damn near every round.
2nd time around, he just got flat out screwed on the scorecards.
He KO'ed Lewis and Sanders
He won every round against Maskaev before he got sloppy and KO'ed.
Face it, a dedicated Rahman might be the best heavyweight in the world right now.
Other than James Toney
You obviously havent seen him fight Ice Cole or Obed or a guy name Holyfield...the best Rock ever looked was his first fight with Tua when he got stopped (he got screwed)....Rock has never looked better then that and that includes his shocker over double L.

but vitali did retire and that means rahmans fight with barret was for the wbc title.
according to you then, vitali was never champion... same thing happened.
vitali won a vacated title against sanders. the winner of that match would AUTOMATICALLY be awarded the title. not the most dignified way of winning, sure. but since when has the HW division ever had dignity?
barret and rahman fought for the interim title, meaning they only would be awarded the title if vitali vacated or lost to either of them.
rahman's fight with barett was months ago and NOW hes "champ".
vitali was awarded the belt directly after his victory over sanders.
To everyone who says Vitali ran Lewis into retirement, DEFEND YOUR MAN NOW, FAGGOTS!
RAHMAN RAN VITALI INTO RETIREMENT!!!!
You are right. He gave up a 7.8 million dollar payday to avoid Rahman.
had vitali not retired, you could only say rahman won it once. getting the belt handed to you without a victory isnt winning a title.
if lewis wasnt so unprepared and didnt have such a weak chin, that 1st loss to rahman would never have happend.

correction: rahman won it twice, once against lewis and once against monte barret for the interim title....
sure he beat lewis with one punch but this is boxing, KO's happen. sure he was beaten by lewis in the rematch but it doesnt nullify the fact that he defeated lewis.

He beat Lewis with one punch, and was beaten with one punch in a rematch he almost refused to fight in. Sanders almost knocked him out of the ring, and Oleg did...
he beat lewis with one punch. and then lewis beat him in a hugely one sided ass whooping. that kinda nullifies rahman's victory over lewis.
correction: rahman won the title ONCE and was given it ONCE.

Keep thinking that HASBEEN ran him out of boxing. Stupid posts like this shouldnt even be allowed on this site, but everyone is entitled to their opinion no matter how ridiculous it is.
your calling rahman a hasbeen when vitali got forced into retirement at 34 because his body is broken from roids and he is to afraid of getting hurt to fight him. thats just lopsided and rediculous. you really must be derranged.
he beat lewis to win the tittle who dit dr iron fist beat
vitali didnt face the greatest of comp.
but since rahman lost a disgustingly one sided rematch with lewis, that pretty much nullifys his win over lewis.

rahman is not done yet, imo he has already accomplished more than vitali.
he has won the world title twice, AND has beaten an all time great in lennox lewis.

the same could be said especially for rahman.

one bictchko down one to go. thank god hes so unskilled only had strength. if wlad fights rock he will retire also. anyone who doesnt agree please chalange my opinion
Maybe someone will challenge your opinion if you learn how to support it with facts.
people keep talking like vitali deserves respect but what did he accomplish? who did he beat?
i was still waiting to see what he was going to do in the heavyweight division, i never would have imagined him retiring like this after all that hype when the klits first got a big name in north america....
vitali by no stretch of the imagination was a great champion, he wasnt even a good one....
