Simple post really. What do the lot of you think about JCC Sr? Was he overated as a fighter, or do his accomplishments get undermined because of the Meldrick Taylor and Whitaker incidents?
My thoughts..
I mean JCC has fought more pro fights than any other living boxer and most boxers today call it a day at around 40-50 fights, compared to Julio's 108 wins, 6 defeats, 87 k.o.'s. That's unheard of nowadays. He was in the talent ladened welterweight division for decades beating up the competition.
I still can't figure out why he decided to fight on after Tszyu ripped him apart though. He just has never been the same. Wasn't going into that fight either, really. Oh well, talk about a true WARRIOR inside and out.
His technical ability was also very underated. He was one of the most skillful inside fighters I have ever seen. He get's bashed because of his "old-school" method of fighting 40-50 fights before he really stepped up the competition but I believe it is because he didn't have much of an amateur career.
I hope he calls it a day. When he does I hope he sincerely enjoys retirement.

Hey, Junior, I already busted you on your Tyson facts. Facts are you got no facts and know just enough to expose yourself on these boards. JCC has 116 total fights, Duran 119, Jorge Castro 142, Duilio Loi 126, and Jose Legra 150, and all are still living as far as I know and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Facts are for every Tyson hater goof like you, there are also JCC hater goofs. You should have to listen to them as they gut JC as ignorantly as you do Tyson. Facts are they are good friends and both had fine careers that neither has been able to give up and both are about as shot as a fighter can be. You should find a new hobby or study hard and post smarter because we're all laughin' ourselves sore over what you got!
Oh please Juniour. I EASILY busted your balls on that Tyson thread. Anyone with half a brain should read that whole thread. I easily took the piss out of your pathetic boxing knowledge.
Facts are, I didn't look up JCC's record. I went by my memory of which it failed me this time. You think just because I got his record wrong that it proves how little boxing knowledge I have? Grow up.
If you read my post, I was sticking up for JCC. But I guess your too ignorant to read the whole thing.
Idiot.
EDIT- You didn't even reply to the Tyson vs. Foreman thread. Your world-class.
People like to say that chavez fought taxi drivers and my opinion thats nonsence, but did they really see them fights??? NO!!!!!! my pops has his collection and I see most of his fights and yes he had some tuneups like any other figther but he was and alot I mean alot of toe to toe wars why do you think he's so popular in mexico? think about it! people also say that he got his ass beat by taylor and whitaker!!! ass beat?? if thats what you call an ass beating then you guys need to go across the border and see the wars that the boxers have down their! whitaker and taylor probably did beat him by POINTS but beleave me thats not what you call and ass beating. I call that a scared fighter not wanting to get hit in his pretty little face so they get wayyyyyyyy to defensive and have BORING ass fights and wins by points, nobody really wants to see but the hard core fans. so my point is that theirs no way that chavez is overated the mexican are REAL hard critics and they want to see galdiators going toe to toe taking each others heads off theirs no way chaves would get all that love by the mexican people if he was just fighting bums and theirs no way he would have that love if he fought like a whitaker people dont want to see that!!! theirs alot of warriors coming from mexico and I'm telling you their not known by they have castillos vs corrales 1 almost every weekend down their!!! but I'll be the first to say that they have problems against these defensive fighters thats because their use to going toe 2 toe not chasing people around. Fuck it! hit me with 3 shots and let me hit you with 1 of mine!!! and lets see who has the bigger balls.LOL

he said living fighter, not any fighter
yes, jcc was overrated, the reason he was able to accumulate so many wins was because of his many fights in mexico.
once he fought the best of the best, he was "exposed" if you will
he was still a great fighter, just a little overrated by some people
yeah i know what he said. they just haad losing records but it was still more then what he said. 200 plus
