This is something that I noticed and thought that was a bit interesting. As you old school fans know, Ali's last two fights were losses against Larry Holmes and Trevor Berbick respectively. Ali was shot by the time he faced these guys and was clearly defeated, although I think he did good against Berbick and could have gotten a draw if he had a little more in the tank.
Anyways, fast forward to 1986. Trevor Berbick is the WBC Heavyweight Champion and his challenger is none other than "Iron" Mike Tyson. As you know, Tyson completely destroyed Berbick in two rounds to capture the belt. That is one Ali loss avenged.
Now 1988 and Mike Tyson is the undisputed champion. His challenger is former heavyweight king, Larry Holmes. Tyson takes a few good jabs, but shortens the distance and brutally Ko's Holmes, a man who had never been stopped prior to the fight and was never stopped by anyone after that. We are talking about a guy who faced devastating punchers like Earnie Shavers and Oliver McCall.
Tyson was a beast in both fights. Do you think he was inspired in these fights because he thought that he was going to do something that Ali could not do, by beating these guys convincingly? Was he some king of avenger for Ali? Any serious comments on this topic would be appreciated.
See to it personally Commander. There will be nobodoy to stop us THIS time.

LMAO, that was fucking funny as hell, karma for you.
screw Ali and Tyson. Two of the biggest pieces of shit in boxing hisotry. Ali is especially so overrated because he was a funtionanaire of the jew media in the 60's and 70's. He fights against Frazier were exciting and his win against Foreman was career defining but he got so many bullshit gift dsecisons from officals for being piece theshit tool racist tool he was. Forget not also that Ali brought into existance the Don King era.
That is the kinda of scumbags Ali has as friends Don King, Mike Tyson, virtually every other boxer who knew when he was figthing despises him.

I might be one of the only people that I know who would agree with Ali not going to war. This doesn't have anything to do with the thread but I gotta speak on that. I think Ali was absolutley right to refuse to go to war for the America that existed at that time. Seeing what was goin down for black people at that time, it amazes me that people call his reason bs.
But as far as Tyson avenging Ali, I dunno about that. I never understood how someone could avenge someone elses loss. I mean, Tyson beat Berbick and Holmes, but the fact remains that Ali never did. I just think that if a fighter loses a fight, only that fighter can avenge himself/herself.
about time somebody had some balls

agree with him or not, I like when someone has the balls to call it like they see it. How dare anyone call for someone to be banned just because they don't idolize one of their gods like others do. I agree Ali was over-rated, great fighter? yes, overrated? of course. No one gets that big in mythological proportions without being overrated somewhat. And of course he got gift decisions. You could make a reasonable arguement that he never beat Norton. And as far as not wanting to go to war because no cong had ever 'called him a ******' (that was an actuall ALi quote, just so you guys won't call for me being banned) is Bullshit, he was just an un-american scared pussy. This forum is probably no different than any others out their-Freedom of Speech-until someone says something we don't like. Boo fucking who. If someone thinks Ali sucked, then so fucking be it. It's not the end of the fucking world.
Foreman after the layoff was still a beast. Proof is the fact that he regained the heavyweight crown in 1994. I think that a Foreman - Tyson bout around 1990 or 1991 would have been very interesting. A clash between a prime Foreman and prime Tyson would heve been a a TKO victory for George, I think.
Absolutely, both of them in their prime makes an explosive fight.
Foreman-Tyson only if Foreman had not taken the 10 year lay-off and obviously was 10 years younger. For those reasons the fight loses appeal, IMO.

I would have liked to see Foreman against both Holmes and Tyson. However, the fight with Tyson would have been more intriguing because of the punching power of both guys.

I agree, and it will be very interesting also if big foreman was given a chance to fight tyson. (I think tyson chickened out on that one)
I would have like'd Foreman-Holmes over Foreman-Tyson.

Well, you gotta understand that juvenile delinquent types sully the board landscape like litter and grafitti do to NYC and will flame up your thread.
No, Tyson was never inspired by higher order thoughts unless he was engaged by Jimmy Jacobs or Cus D'Amato. He might have been inspired by the death of Cus out of respect to Jimmy, but after Jacobs died Tyson has shown he could easily be in the top 10 dumbest fighters of all time. He was just a ghetto thug who was given a 2nd chance and blew that and pissed off every chance he got thereafter.
BTW, the complete destruction and total ease he disposed of Berbick and Holmes is even more outstanding when you realize he was only 20 and 21 yrs of age respectively. Tyson was briefly the best ever and what a terrible fall down the mountaintop he took.
ok, i see your point. people should learn how to play poker it will make them a better person.
If that's a joke, I don't think I have ever read it or heard it, but anyway. My point is that I ain't fighting anyone here. I just made a serious thread about Tyson and related to Ali. Nothing else.
no, not until you settle your dues with mckay 1. no disrespect but the guy has a point
What do I have to settle? I ain't even paying much attention to his anti-Ali posts.
I'm gonna personally see to it that you get banned.
