What a fucking good fight. Augustus trailing on the cards, floors Ngoudjo in the 12. Anyweyz they could have stopped the fight EASILY but let the guy finished groggy and shit. All he needed was 10 more seconds to finish him off. The judges favored hometown boy of course but damn great fight. Augustus was even trying to pump up the crowd after they announced that he lost. Very good sport but I guess he don't mind another L on his record.
This was an interesting fight, I swear if the ref there was the one who did Chavez-Taylor I the fight would have been over in the 12th and Augustus would have one. Ngoudjo was nearly out on his feet...hell, a stoppage might have even been justified.
btw for those fellow canucks who missed the fight live, for some reason the GYM events that they show on TVA are often in the afternoon  . Seems like a strange time for a boxing card. Anyway, I'll try to post something here the day before the next one to remind everyone.
You know why it was in the afternoon?
Because the Habs played the Leafs on HNIC in Montreal that night.

He didn't even win the round 11 and 12 clearly.
He won the 12th more than clearly, but otherwise I agree with your take.
Other than the fact that Herman going down in the 12th was what saved him.
If he hadn't fallen down, he would have fell in the ropes and Augustus would have kept hitting him, and a stoppage would have been in order.
Because he fell, he got a count, the clock ran down, and he survived.
He was fortunate it ended up that way.
Herman won the fight fair and square because Augustus wasn't active enough in the rounds he gave away.
No robbery !!! Ngoudjo won !!!
Believe me i was at the fight, There is no way Augustus got rob in this fight, his only chance to win was to knock the guy out cause he lost 8 consecutive rounds from the 2nd to the 9th. He didn't even win the round 11 and 12 clearly. To win a fight, u need to win the most of 12 rounds, not have a spectacular finish. This is not Hollywood, every round in boxing counts and that's what happened ! People saying the ref could have stopped the fight, are u crazy ? stop at the 12th round, with 20 seconds left in the fight u guys must be out of your mind! The ref only stop the fight when there is absolutely no way the guy can make it and made it to the end, yes the guy was saved by the belt but that's all part of boxing. Herman would even beat this guys in a rematch but give me a reason why he would fight him again ! The judges and the ref did a great job of staying focus, cause that Hollywwod finish could have influenced them, they didn't bite so i give them props for that.
augustus lost? that sucks for me at least. he does showboat a bit, but he doesn't do it in a cocky manner in my opinion.
he has been robbed on many occasions. sometimes, i think judges need to be suspended for fucking up a fighters record.
and yeah, sturm is a better fighter than de la hoya at his weight at least.
man that's disappointing. i hope i can catch the fight sometime on tv if they ever show it somewhere i can see it. i love augustus, but damnit. i don't know what's next for him now- if he had won this i was going to be super excited for his future but yeah.. oh well.
Bozo, what was your scorecard. Mine was 115 to 113 in favour of AUGUSTUS. I had the fight 6 rounds to 5 with 1 even. That was a bogus decision, but a great fight nonetheless.
I disagree.
I like Augustus, but he wasn't throwing enough shots.
115-112 Ngoudjo
Augustus is effective when he's clowing, but only when he's clowing AND throwing punches.
That was a fair decision, Augustus gave it away by not throwing enough shots.
I will say this though, if that guy hadn't have gone down when he did, the ref would have waived it off. he was out of it. That, or if there was another 30 seconds left, Augustus would have scored the TKO.
I wathced this fight live this afternoon on SUN TV here in Toronto.
It was a great fight, non stop punching, Augustus deserved to lose, even with the KD.
The guy is a clown, he only does his dancing around after he gets clocked by a good punch, trying to show the judges it didn't hurt him.
I think that this turns the judges off, it's cheap showboating trying to earn points with the judges but I think it works agianst him, I get the feeling the judges have the impression that he thinks he can trick them into thinking he's the better fighter by dancing around, even though he's the one eating more punches.
You know that is a credible thought IMO.

Well.. I'm not that big of a fan of his dancing around, he should stay and focus on winning fights instead. That said, he has been in some wars, his fight with Ward was awesome.
Why is everybody hyping up Augustus so much? Yeah, he is better than his record but that does not say much.
Because he's exciting to watch and puts on great fights.
Simple answer really.
The fight WAS close. You could have made a case for both fighters specially for Augustus with his 12 round KD. It was really toe to toe for 12. I wouldn't say EA got robbed but the judges scorecards showed he wasn't anywhere near winning a close fight. Even with the knock down he lost by 4 points, the fuck is up with that? But man, as entertaining as Augustus was, the times where he planted his feet and fought normally he was owning.
You think Sturm is a better fighter than the Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya?
It was a very close fight but I would stop short of saying he is a better fighter than DLH.
Is'nt that his fault that he took fights in a few days notice? I was a question of his career.
Okay lets say I agree with you.
Then why did 19 different judges give him loses?
If he has been robbed you mean to say he won every one of his fight and got the wrong decision?
If thats the case then hes a warrior, because hes still carrying on
The point was your 1st post was typical of a lot of the BS on this and every other site.
You looked at a record on paper and passed judgment like you knew what you were talking about.
I haven't seen all of his fights, but I've seen MANY fights where he was jobbed.
Personally, he feels of all the losses, that there were only three where he feels he was legitamatly beaten.
Regardless, Augustus is a much better fighter than his record indicates on paper, so instead of trying to argue with people that have seen a lot of him about something you're only reading, you should be asking for the opinions of those who have actually seen a lot of him.
THAT's how you learn something. :D
I dont know anything about this fighter but from you guys commenting on him, he seems to be good, but then why does the guys has so many loses its confusing. I'm saying this after looking at his record... 31 wins 25 loses 6 draws
He is just one of thoses guys it is an accumilation of reasons why he has lost....Not saying he is great but he is a solid fighter when he has trained and takes the fight seriously and sometimes when he does not.....He clowns alot and is very entertaining.PBF said he was his toughest fight...I read that in some article on fightnews a while back.
