PORTLAND, Ore. -- WBC super lightweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. will face Sharmba Mitchell on Nov. 19 in Portland, the Oregon Sports Authority said Thursday.
The 12-round bout at the Rose Garden Arena will be televised on HBO.
Organizers had scheduled a press conference featuring both fighters Wednesday, but it was canceled and expected to take place some time next week.
The 28-year-old Mayweather, undefeated in 34 fights, took the WBC 140-pound title from Arturo Gatti in June, and previously held the WBC super featherweight and lightweight belts.
Mitchell, a former 140-pound champion, last fought in June on the undercard of the bout between Mike Tyson and Kevin McBride. The 35-year-old Mitchell was declared the victor over Chris Smith in five rounds.
NO PPV!!! haha
Is that all you can say sureno? Margarito is a horrible draw. No one knows who the guy is.
Floyd has one thing on his mind:MONEY. He has even said so himself in interviews he doesn't care about his legacy as long as he gets as much money as possible. Fighting Margarito is a lose-lose situation. If he wins, he beat a relatively unknown fighter, and if he loses, he loses EVERYTHING he has worked for.
That's why I am not a fan of Mayweather.
The guy knows he is a threat to him.
