I just read why Castillo was so mad with Gary Shaw after the fight.
Turns out Gary shaw bitched out of their bet and refused to pay Castillo the $100,000 dollars they had bet that he would knock out Corrales.
Thats what went on in the ring when Castillo went to collect.
how is gary a trainer?
the guy looks out of shape. Anyways, he is liar and sore loser. At least ppl now know not to bet with him. I bet he would sue a guy if he won a bet and the other guy wouldn't pay.
If its not on paper its not legally biding.
it's not about that....there was a time when a mans 'word of honor' meant something. Not anymore. He may not be legally bound to pay but his word means shit and everybody knows it....not good for a promoter.
No matter when they made the bet, Shaw let the fight go through automatically keeping their bet alive. He should man-up and pay up.
his reputation is at stake, i don't think he'll risk losing it just for 100 grand.
darn, he gambles, he should pay.

Wrong.
Terms of acceptance are engaged as soon as one party even nods their head in agreement.
Its called a mutually binding contract.

First off the idiot has no place as a promoter betting on the outcome of his fight - It has a very negative reflection on the whole industry, and puts unecessary pressure on his fighter.
Secondly he should pay up and get stuffed. All you see him do is complain.
Just curious, but if this happened in las vegas where gambling is legal and there were people who bore witness to this bet.
isnt technically his word and shaking castillos hand on it a legally binding gesture.
i know you can make side bets in poker games and you are legally required to honor them, how is this different??

The bet was made after Castillo weighed in Saturday afternoon. Shaw made the bet thinking Castillo wasn't fully prepared but since he knocked out Corrales I guess it's a different story. Castillo told Shaw in the ring "pay me" then Shaw walked off and Bob Arum told Castillo seconds after that he would pay Castillo the $100,000.
if i'm correct the bet was made after the second weigh-in, so Shaw should pay the scale cheat. the next fight should be at 140 and Shaw should go double or nothing, that's what real gamblers do.
he's wrong for not paying, a bet is a bet. plus whats a 100k to a promoter, all they have to do is rip off one of their fighters. they do it ll the time anyway.
how does a promoter get more cash then the fighter? it blows my mind....
i think someone should rip Shaws nuts off and shove em down his throat.
i believe this would go a long way towards putting promoters in their place

i wonder if JLC wouldve paid up right away.
only a hypothetical cause obviously he wasnt considering the possibility of being knocked out
i thought he bet him at the final weigh in where he simply had to make the agreed upon 147, am i mistaken??
I'm not sure, but if thats the case he should pay up. there's nothing worst than someone who doesnt back it up.
I suppose it depends when the bet was made, if it was before the weigh in then Castillo clearly broke the terms of the agreement. But if it was after he Shaw is a bitch(Which we knew anyway)!!

wow, thats low....to give your word and make a bet with money of that magnitude and then pull out. And here I was relieved that atleast he was getting back some of the 120,000 he got fined for not making wt. This will get around and maybe in the future nobody will make any bets with shaw.
