good story. I believe it.
Thanks man yup when i recognized him he did they all hey thing like a star and i imagine he expected me to ask for an autograph but i just laughed and kept walking.
merchant knows his role and is old school. he knows what hes talking about and its funny to hear him speak. i heard gray got into trouble with an interview recently. hes a little weasel
good story. I believe it.
Neither Merchant isnt even a true fight fan either imo.
I saw him last night at a Santa Monica cafe during fight time eating something not watching the fight. On a super big fight like that even if it was showtime what kind of crap is that for someone with as much money as him, who is supposively a fan of the sport.
Anyway he dont gotta be a fan but it just proves why sometimes he says some supert stupid things, he isnt really into it.

Merchant of course! He's got personality! Jim Grey is as boring and dull as my butter knife! Larry throws out some of the stupidest comments I've never thought imaginable and yet gets me to crack up. He's an old fart that definitely would be missed by me if HBO didn't have him anymore. Jim Grey who? BTW-Last night, I think he was annoying me more than Castillo about the weight issues. Talk about killing the mood. Of course, if he's being told to ask those questions through his ear piece which I always take into account when listening to them, then it's not his fault. I'm sure it was Showtime producers and whatnot wanting to get to the bottom of it before he left.
The one that was pretty fucked up was when merchant was talking about the katrina storm and then he was gonna cry and jim lampley stole his moment and said "ok now we will take a look at some upcoming shows on hbo" hahahah that was funny but cold at the same time.
Merchant! I love hearing that feisty old hobbit! he makes me laugh and fighters dont talk back to him for some reason, its because he can reason better then them. But grey fighters always talk back to him, just like how toney grabbed that mic.
hmm
Merchant talks too much shit about Roy and also got owned by Tarver in the last post-fight interview. Larry and Grey both have never been in a ring and they say shit they really don't know anything about. They think they own the ring after a fight and can behave however they want. Tarver, Roy and Toney have already set Merchant and Grey straight on those issues by either letting them know they can't talk cuz they've never been in the ring or by clowning them badly (like Toney did to Grey).
I remember after the Tyson-Francis fight Mike Tyson got a little agitated with Gray when Gray told Mike to wipe his nose. Tyson then made a remark about Pete Rose (who Gray slated some time earlier) and said to Gray "I'm man enough to squash you and be your friend". It was funny, you could see the life draining out of Gray's face as he thought Mike was going to pummel him.
Merchant by default. I hate his philosophical speeches and I hate how he just screws up the energy of a fight by being negative.
yeah, his philosophical speeches piss me off, like hes trying to be a shitty author.
i dont like either but i dont have to put up with grey cuz i dont have SHO.
merchant is not only the more skilled commentator, but also the more intelligent and nicer person, so I'd have to go with merchant. he also has a better since of humor than grey.
grey's a fuckhead.
