Right now he is 28, so that means he probably has, at most, 3 fights left after the Castillo rematch. If he beats Castillo again what should he do for those three fights?
You need to read the whole post, bro.
Before I made that statement, I stated that Corrales needs to go to 140 & SHOW he's the same kind of puncher & fighter he is at 135.
If he is....he'll be a much harder puncher & better fighter than Torres, who almost KO'd Cotto.
If Cotto has the same defensive holes he showed against Torres, & Corrales carries his punch with him...YOU are the idiot for thinking Cotto would be standing.
if he shows his power carries over to 140, he still wouldnt knock cotto out.
you're assuming cotto wouldnt knock HIM out. corrales isnt exactly iron-jawed. sure, he gets up and wont stay down, but cotto's only been down once, and he had to be PULLED down, even after eating leather over and over.
if it was corrales in the ring with torres, corrales would've been down a couple times.

I watched Cotto Torres last night. I would think that Cotto would be hesitant to throw hooks to the body against Corrales...
I was really surprised at how ordinary Cotto looked at times, even though I don't think he's as good as some people think.
Cotto would get tested by Chico, that's for sure.
don't be an idiot.

I didnt enjoy the first one has much has most people did, because the whole time I was wondering why Corrales didnt move away from Castillo, all they did was stand in the middle of the ring, and trade shots. I enjoyed Corrales/Casamayor much more because it was more of a real boxing match...Corrales is capable of moving around, and Casamayor outboxed Castillo fairly easily..so why not box him?
Don't worry, you'll see that on Saturday, despite what Corrales says. He's trying to sell it as another war, and its all because he knows it will get more buys that way. Don't believe the hype.
edit: as far as retiring by 30 goes... I'm all for it. If any boxer is able to get out of the game with their brains in tact, then good for them, because very few accomplish this.
If they want a real fight, they should take off the leather gloves, and punch each other to end the fight before round 1 ends... by iwacthboxing
lmfao they should do that lmfao

WTfu did not like the first fight that how real fight are toe to toe that the best action in boxing toe to toe

 you didnt like the first fight?? wow.. so u mean, you like Juan Marquez kind of fights?? I thought the first one was already the winner for fight of the year.
Boxing has already a ton of wars, boxing needs Corrales to box and punch Castillo, instead of plant himself infront of him this time...
Ya, but changing a fighter's style is always not a good thing. I mean, if you look at Barrera's style.. he was so exciting to watch when he was a brawler but did you see his last fight with Peden?? he was a boxer and a counter puncher and I almost fell asleep watching the fight. If Corrales tries to box and run around the ring this time, then it will not create as much excitement than the first one.
The thing is, you can end up "like Ali" in one fight.
You have a very good point. But fighters should not continue their career if they fought too many wars and took a lot of punishment. Brawlers like Pacquiao, Corrales, Morales, Gatti etc. usually have short careers because of all the damage that they are taking because of their styles which is not good for any fighter, but good for the sport.
Panic' :boxing:
for me he should fight:
1.jesus chavez
2.should go up in weight and fight cotto
3.and last mayweather or hatton
but i wish he can stay little bit longer,so he shoould aleast retire at age 31-32 so he can fight more big fight
With most fans retirement is a double edged sword for any fighter. If he talks about retirement or even does retire he is knocked for not fighting this guy or for not staying active long enough to secure his legend.
On the other hand when the fighter stays in the ring and fights past his prime he will then be knocked for being old and over the hill. He could possibly have these thoughts read to him by a friend as the words slip past his mind, his eyes focused into a distant field, his mind someplace else.
I say that more fighters should retire earlier. I have a hard time watching the past greats plugging around a ring in chase of an up and comer that they would have easily handled in their younger years. If Chico wants to retire in 2 years than I say good for him. If he chooses to retire next month then I would say again, good for him. A fighters life is one that few in here know. For a fighter to get out with a few dollars in his pocket and most of the marbles left in his head can only be a good thing.
Rockin' :boxing:
Retiring early is a very good idea, because if they stay for too long they may end up like Ali. Manny Pacuaio will retire at the age of 30 too. Good post Rockin.

Good and bad to hear to me.
Good in that he can retire early having accomplished what guys who stayed in the game alot longer than him couldn't do, He has a pretty good legacy. Fought in one of the greatest fights of all time....and so on.
Bad in that he is a good thing for boxing, especially boxing at the lower weights....he's a big puncher and a good finisher.
I mean let's face it, he'll never be "Iron" Mike, but he is a pretty good guy.
It would be good when he retires that he stays retired because a fighter with as much passion and love for boxing like Corrales would be itching to get back in the ring within a year.
When you beat Casamayor, Freitas, and Castillo almost within the same year, and find you're not getting as much credit as you deserve, I'd think about retirement too. It's a shame Casamayor couldn't keep winning cuz I would have loved a third one between them. I'm glad Corrales is being smart about his career. I think this will motivate him to win out over Castillo this week and then maybe get Morales at 135.
