Former IBF lightweight champion Javier ''Chatito'' Jauregui, now 50-12-2, with 34 KOs, looked like the fighter who won that title a couple of years ago, in dominating Filipino Randy Suico (23-2, 20 KOs) in the Telefutura televised, Golden Boy promoted main event at the Lyon Center on the campus of the University of Southern California.
Suico, a very big lightweight who easily looked to be more of a welterweight come fight time, quickly found out what a nightmare it would be to try and defeat the wily veteran.
Jauregui would fire hooking left hands followed by cracking right hands, and move away, exposing his opponent as one dimensional, and often leaving the static Suico looking befuddled as he tried to land one shot at a time, either a left hook, or uppercut, which he
managed to do as Jauregui would go against the ropes, but the Mexican quickly got out of danger behind body shots and speedy combinations.
Never in any serious trouble, Suico dug himself a deep hole on the scorecards leading into the tenth and final round in which he let everything go, while the Mexican smartly stayed away and potshotted in spots on his way to a clear points win.
Scores were 99-91 (twice) and a ridiculous 95-95.
I didnt know this fight was happening but i read this and thought some of u might want know as i did.
Suico just had a lazy fight against a guy who was smart enough to carefully box him and outwork him. Suico was coming on strong the last two rounds. He's clearly got a ton of potential once he learns how to deal with a top level boxer.
Randy's a talented guy. It's a shame that he got his scalp handed to him. I hate seeing something special like that go to waste. The guy was a gifted amateur back in his days donning the Phil colours and won his share of medals too. ARGH... I don't want him to be mismanaged or trained the wrong way. I hope someone takes action and puts him under Freddie Roach's tutelage. Trained better, he can be a force to reckon with in the lightweight division or at super feather. The guy has legitimate KO power on both hands and has the physical dimensions to be competetive with big opponents. I think he was oriented to be a KO artist. He shouldnt be taught to think of himself as an in-your-face banger. :boxing:
a lot of Pinoy Fans was disapointed on Randy's performance...
he did not fight with tenacity or heart ...
IMHO, SUICO should prove himself again to us Pinoy Fans, and I really hope he do a lot better on his succeding fights ...
A little payback I suppose? LOL j/k.
Yup, you're way behind on the news, we were talking about it after the fight(it was televised in Telefutura). We(Pinoys) were very disappointed with Suico that he looks very slow and lazy with his punches. Jauregui is very quick despite his age. I think his style is very similar to Acelino Freitas.
hehehe yeah i can see i am behind lol!!!
Yeah i imagine you guys would be disappointed i saw Jauregui's last fight and he looked horrible. This was certainly a surprise to me :D
