retire?
rematch with Glen Johnson?
can't fight Hopkins anytime soon, he has his own "legacy" to deal with in his class..
I guess it all depends how he looks on Oct. 1st...but where would u want him to be? considering he defeats Antonio...
well to me, I say IF he convincingly dominates Tarver this Saturday...I'd avenge my loss to Johnson and call it quits, that should definitely seal his legacy as an all time great...
what u think?
Maybe redemption against Johnson depending on how he wins if he wins which I doubt...Hypothetically if he wins he should try to avenge loss to Johnson as well and no matter the outcome after that retire.Happy trails RJJ an all time great either way. :)
I cannot understand anyone who is picking Jones to win. Even if you thought Tarver got a lucky punch what the hell about Glen Johnson? A lucky 9 rounds? I dont think so. Jones has got nothing left he is too old. Jones did just get knocked out in his last 2 fights he got fucked up. Glen Johnson doesnt even have a big punch and jones was out for a solid minute before they woke his ass up I honestly thought he was dead. There is no way in hell Jones beats Tarver. If Jones beats Tarver its a mircale on par with Moses splitting the Red Sea.
excatly.
It's OK fo die hard fans to think Jones can win, but those stoopid fuckers that "try" to analyze tis fight and favor Jones are fuckin lame ducks idiots!

O-M-G!
How come ta same people who was sayin Roy should stay retired afta gettin beat by Geln Johnson, that he should leave ta game, ARE TA SAME PEOPLE PICKING HIM TO WIN?????????
Are people that stoopid to not stay wit their original opinion?? What has changed tis time around??? Majority people said Roy should retire and stop boxing afta ta brutal KOes he received against Tarver and Johnson!!!! NOW.....YOU GUYS SAY JONES BEATS TARVER???? OMG, ta stoopidity is all ova ta place.
He won't fight Johnson. He'd be stupid too.
There is no money in a Johnson fight & Tarver just beat him anyway.
Tarver is really the only fight left for him. A fight with Toney would be big money. But I doubt Jones would risk losing to a guy he already beat soundly.
The only options I can see Jones hanging around for are, being the Belt hog that he is, he might try to take a belt off Mormeck @ Cruiser or Even Chris Byrd @ HW.

Pretend time is over. Wake up asshole and smell Roy Jones getting knocked the fuck out cold for the 3rd straight fight.
Its going to be ugly!
hmm
Roy is doing this for himself, and that's the bottom line. His legacy is plenty solid. The haters and doubters will dis him no matter what he does, and that's what they always have done.
There is no reason to fight Glen Johnson if he beats Tarver. Tarver is his nemesis, not Glen. Glen trained like his life was on the line and Roy looked like he trained a week for that fight, plus Glen was just taking advantage of a situation that Tarver created.
Win, lose, or draw...this is probably Roy's last fight. I wouldn't be surprised if he got KO'd again but I would be pleasantly surprised and very proud if he beats Tarver. I'm gonna be in Tampa live to watch it and this feels like a big moment not for just Roy, but also for all fans of his people of Pensacola like me.
Yes! you're right. if he wins spectacularly over Tarver, i think he'll have enough momentum to take a win against Johnson and then he should retire. if it unfolded like that, then he'd go down as one of the greatest ever without a doubt. that would erase his losses, but if he losses against Tarver this time, especially in bad fashion. be it a UD or getting knocked out again, then his career and legacy is going to be tarnished forever, sad to say, but it's the truth. not dominate champ has been brutally ko'd twice back to back like he has, and that right there knocked him out of being a stand alone great......
bad spelling, i'm wasted, sorry!
corrections-loses, no
if rjj wins a close, hard earned decision w/ tarver, i think he should hang up the gloves. however, if he totally outclasses tarver, id like to see him avenge glen then retire. NO MORE AFTER THAT

Fighters ( And World Class Fighters) don't come back from getting knocked the fuck out. Roy didn't just get his lunch handed to him once, it was handed to him twice. B I A T C H !
Don't bet with your heart bro. This is reality, not fairy tale land....... Roy's gonna get his ass kicked again.

If Roy wins I say we melt down all the ice and use the water as freshwater in New Orleans.
Then maybe we can use the land down in hell to raise food to feed the homeless.
I do feel that this will be his last fight. But what i think will happen and what i want to happen are two entirely different things. What i would like to see happen is for him to win against tarver for starters, then i would like to see him defeat Glen Johnson. Roy jones is two fights away from solidifying his legacy. A win over tarver is a must just for the simple fact the he lived for a roy jones fight. Not to mention that he is the man that single handidly toppled the legacy of jones, all glen did was shoot an already dying horse. If Jones can defeat antonio tarver, and do so in a convincing fashion, then in most minds he would be right back on top of the list that he so proudly stood at the top of for so many years. BUT, and a big one at that, BUT........If he can avenge the loss to Johnson as well, it would be very hard for someone to still deny him his place in history. You have got to think about it. There will always be people out there that will knock you, hell there are some people who feel Ali was just a hyped up fighter, whos career was made by his and george's fight. And thats fine. But those fighters will not be remembered by what a few think. They will be remembered by what the Majority thinks.
But if jones can defeat Johnson as well, then almost all doubt would be removed. Even the biggest roy jones critic would be left clueless as what their basis for not giving him his dues are.
I agree with you. The only thing for that is, I don't think a fight with glen is enough to really motivate jones to be who he was.
Redeeming against Tarver is what is driving him now, and maybe with a very solid win over Tarver, he will look to GLen.

As much as I would like to see that, I think this is his last fight , win or loose.
Roy has one last great fight left in him, and this would in my eyes avenge both the johnson and the tarver fight.
He wasn't right after the Tarver fight and , we all know prime RJJ would KTFO of glen.
No, I think this is it for old roy.
And I hope to god he can pull it out. RJJ is hands down one of my favorite boxers, and like I hoped for tyson, I want to see him leave on a good note.
I agree, Jones should be done after this fight win or lose...but I have the feeling that if he wins his ego will keep him in the game for a bit longer..
next 4 him johnson , toney , ruiz and or byrd , then retires
