According to public documents obtained through the court's website, Byrd has asked a New Jersey District Court for permission to file his own complaint in a case already pending between Wladimir Klitschko and the IBF. Byrd intends to sue the IBF and King, alleging they worked together to harm Byrd's career, to allow King to avoid fulfilling his contractual obligations and that together, they violated federal antitrust law. Byrd wants not only monetary damages but also a declaration that he is free from King's control. "Don King Productions has a long and sordid history with the IBF," wrote Patrick English, Byrd's attorney in this litigation.

Boxing needs to find a way to get rid of Don King once and for all. He's corrupted the sport so badly it sometimes resembles WWF wrestling.

With the way things are going in the heavyweight division, Byrd will lose to Williamson, a DK fighter, and his legal proceedings won't matter as much as he won't be champ anymore. Ruiz will lose to McBride, whom DK will have signed by then, and DK will have two NEW champions to make horrible match-ups for. McBride-Oquendo anyone? How about Williamson-Braithwaite? If Brewster does somehow lose, you know DK has options on some of Kransniqi's defenses... DK will be in the game and active until the day he dies, for better or worse. 1 - Byrd will never lose to Williamson 2 - Ruiz will never lose to McBride Unless they are payed off that is! Byrd / Williamson would be a recap of Raheem / Morales in HWs. Byrd is too skilled and to quick for Williamson.... Easy 12 round UD dance for Byrd. McBride will never outbox, outhug, or KO Ruiz. Keep in mind he did not beat Tyson; Tyson quit!

First Ruiz, then Byrd. I hope Brewster looses to Krasniqi and we will finally see the HW division without that devil DK. That would ensure that we will not see a headline "Golota gets his 27th title shot" sometime in 2025.

Perhaps this can justify Byrds inactivity (As well as Klitschko's) and proves how corrupt DKP is! Byrd could have fought Toney. He can rot in hell.

I have to commend Byrd for this. I am glad he is looking to sue these bastards because they are nothing but corrupt bastards. The IBF was instituted to "expose" corruption in the WBA and WBC and to become the legit championship belt in boxing but all they've done is side with the devil himself Don King and are just as bad as the other two bodies.

byrd wouldnt have the title if it wasn't for don king... he's been struggling to beat king's fighters(fres, golota) and mccline... without king, byrd may not have ever gotten the title or surely would have lost it by now.. king is crooked as hell, but guys like ruiz, byrd, TOS, golota, fres and seldon have all benefitted from signing with him, although he probably swindled millions from them... Well Byrd fought whoever King + IBF put in front of him. I think what Byrd wants now is a big money fight and to retire. He doesn't want to keep fighting bums like Williamson (bum in fan appeal). He wants to fight the big money players. I think this is what its all about. I guess he also wants to have a legacy which he obviously doesn't have now at all.

Why is Don King still promoting? Isn't he like 70 or so I believe. Why can't he just retire and let younger more ambitious promoters take over so we can see some great fights being put together. Out with the old, in with the new. As for Byrd doing this I commend him. That shows that he has spirit and wants to fight the top dogs instead of the fake Don King fighters.

Everyone sues Don King. See a pattern? It's because King is the worst promoter in history. He stagantes his fighters' careers, demanding ridiculous terms and making shameful matchups or none at all. I think Don King and Frank Warren should be slowly dipped in an acidic bath of sulfur.
