Its coming up on the bbc website as breaking news that Ricky Hatton is scheduled to fight WBA light welterweight champion Carlos Maussa on 26th November in sheffield. Says more news soon
Corley's ok... But it annoys me when people say that Cotto is fed bum after bum and given such an easy route to the top, Yet he's fought a lot of the same guys Mayweather has.
When Cotto fought Corley people were saying, "another bum!... Demacus (slop slop) Corley", Yet when mAyweather fights him he's a credible opponent?
Perhaps Mayweather is desperate to get out of the 140lb division BECAUSE of Hatton?
when mayweather had fought corley, corley had just come off a split decision loss to zab judah. becasue of this, his stock was actully rising. however, the way in which mayweather dominated corley really made his boxing stock plummet. it was proven that he really cant contend with the best, so when cotto faced him, he was less of an opponent when floyd fought him. another example of this is corley's next fight, against johnny walker, who is 18-17 and has lost his last six fights. hopefully you can see what im getting at here. regardless of all this, chop chop was a credible opponent when he fougt cotto, but his stock was down a considerable amount since he had faced floyd.
floyd has faced better opposition than cotto, no questions there.
also, i think floyd wants to fight hatton, he is just being greedy and looking for 70-30 or something. hopfully he can level his head a bit and the fight will happen
The ring is just a biased US magazine, who cares about there rating!? they are probably the reason most US fans dont have a clue how good the other talent is around the world.
Ring magazine is the most trusted boxing source in the world today
When did Stewart say this? I haven't heard or read anywhere where that was an issue. That's why I didn't respond to it.
Last year sometime. I can't be arsed looking for the link but it's fairly common knowledge.
boxing monthly isn't biased, i think it pisses over the american mags
I'm making a point you retard, although your probably right about the bias thing, its only the US and Germany who think their the only nation that boxes.
Then what's the excuse for the Brit fans? It sure seems as if the only fighters they think are good are British =) If I have to read another "Hatton would knock out any American fighter hahahhahah lolol!!!!!!111one11!"
I don't particularly care for your comment, however I'm diggin the Elizabeth Hurley picture. She's by far the best thing to come out of England since the Mayflower!
English fans just defend English fighters, their views are normally realistic, thats includes me. The only fighter i hype is Hatton, i have done for a long time, i like his style and ability, i'd hype him if he was Mexican/American or any other nationality so i wouldnt consider it bias.
Liz Hurley looks hot, she looks like a very good fuck.
Really? That's funny how Hatton was on the cover of The Ring? That's real bias right there if you ask me...
Its not going to be unrealistic and only put American fighters, but of course it will have more American than it should because that whats sells, the same thing will happen with Boxing Monthly in the UK. Readers like to see fighters they know appearing in it.
The fight wasn't turned down over money. You seem to keep missing the part where Manny Steward admitted they turned the fight down because he didn't think Harris would win.
So you're basically saying that Hatton wouldn't go after the WBA belt if Harris still had it because he's scared of a fighter who's own trainer admitted Hatton would beat him? There's only one of us lacking objectivity here dude.

Once again the point is if you're in a potentially big money fight & you have the belt but the challenger wants you to fight in his backyard, you'd want to be compensated especially if your opponent is making a couple million. If you weren't such a die hard Hatton fan you'd be a little more objective.

Hatton had only fought bums and was unproven at that point according to most people on here. Urkal had put on a decent performance in going the distance with Tszyu so surely he should have been viewed as the bigger risk, especially considering Germany's record of judging and refs. It's all irrelevant anyway because Manny Steward admitted why they turned the fight down.

He knew Hatton was a bigger risk & a bigger money fight than Urkal. It was the principle that if his title was on the line & he was going into "enemy" territory, he wanted to be compensated. Anybody would want the same if put in that situation.

Nah, he backed out because Manny Steward said he wasn't ready yet.
The purse was by far the greatest he had ever been offered but he went to Germany to fight Urkhal instead for a fraction of the money, so how does your logic apply to that?

Don't think so. The reason the Hatton fight didn't happen was because Harris was the one bringing the major belt & overseas on top of it. He wanted more money & can you blame him? With Hatton having that advantage I'd want more money too.

You like that point? Harris ducked Hatton last year. Ricky must be laughing his ass off that Maussa KO'd Harris.
Harris would not last 5 rounds with Hatton. Harris knows it, Hatton knows it, and Manny Steward knows it which is the main reason the fight didn't happen last year!
