Tarver - Jones II
on HBO PPV
or
Toney - Guinn and Byrd - Williamson
on Showtime
I'm not sure, but I'm leaning towards the Showtime card becuase I'm sick of paying HBO for PPV's.
Curious for opinions.
i'm watching me fight cuz i have a fight in meriden that day :boxing:
Good luck on that dude, i will b watching Jones/Tarver, hoping Jones wins, then watching Hopkins win, then the Hopkins/Jones II end of the greatness
Not it is Maddalone vs Shannon Miller I believe, Minto wanted the fight but the networks wouldnt buy it....
Also Super_Lightweight, I wouldnt expect anything less from you when it comes to Roy fighting....But HBO hasnt been the premier network this year....With securing Castillo vs Corrales 2 might just lock in Showtime as stealing it this year, because HBO dont have jack on Sho in 2005....Hopefully in 2006 it goes back to HBO, but I just wish we could get ABC Wide World of Sports back!
i agree, Showtime has been the better network for boxing in 05....& it's not even close.
are you sure about the Minto-Maddalone rematch on the undercard ?...that changes it for me. and I'm serious. their 1st fight was a BRAWL!! HBO will probably get my $50 again.

hmm
Obvious answer: HBO
1) Showtime is a 2nd class network.
2) Jones-Tarver is the most important fight of any mentioned.
3) The heavyweights today always disappoint.
4) Toney-Guinn and Byrd-Williamson are equally nonessential fights.
But me, I'm going to be in Tampa to watch Roy live. I never seen him fight live, and even though there is a significant chance he will lose, I must see him. It's probably my last chance.
With Chavez jr on any card it warrants excitement. That kid is still very green but he finishes in impressive fashion. I like watching Chavez jr.
4 fights is better than 3!:D
I can't wait, I'm going to the fight!!!!!!:D
This is a card, where we get 4 knockouts!
Chavez Jr KO bum
Arce KO Hussein
Either JLC wins by KO or Chico does
Carlos KTFO Bobby
I'll probably just go with Showtime. I would love to see Tarver finish off Jones but another $50 is too much when there is a pretty good card on at the same time. Besides, HBO will replay the fight the next weekend anyways. I can wait I guess.
Both these cards are pretty unimpressive. The main undercard bout on HBO is a Maddallone-Minto rematch...what the hell, when did this sort of fight become PPV-worthy? Hell, their first match wasn't even the main event on FNF. Looks like Chavez Jr. will match himself up against another punching bag as well.
Save your money for Oct. 8 if you're strapped for cash. At the very least the Hussein - Arce rematch will be a good one, and even if Castillo - Corrales doesn't come close to approaching the first fight it would be pretty hard for it to be bad.

i dont have showtime right now so just the jones/tarver ppv. luckily i should be able to get corrales/castillo 2 the next week if everything goes to plan..
Yeah, his fights are good even if most of them are mismatches. The one on the Mayweather-Gatti card had a lot of action.
Well Chavez had a bunch of those fights himself before he got his first true fight...I think it is acceptable though considering he has no amateur background. But it is hard to tell who is a mismatch because of his lack of amateur skill....I wouldnt be surprised if someone pulled out a decision over him early in his career but I still like to watch him fight.

To correct what I said earlier, looks like Chavez Jr. is on the Corrales-Castillo card. Ah well, for some reason I like watching his fights, probably just the family connection I suppose.
I might break the bank and get both the Oct.1 and Oct.8 PPVs...with that Jones-Taver fight, anything could happen. Ah, I'll probably have to choose one or the other.

Showtime until Jones vs Tarver enter and then back to the DVR for more showtime action.
Davarryl vs Byrd should be entertaining, atleast Williamson will make it that way. I think he will put it all on the line but I predict a Byrd UD.
Toney vs Guinn is going to be a snooze fest, Guinn is afraid to throw and Toney counters can anyone say ZZZZZ??????
I have no coment on the Marquez fight though.
I feel the only time Byrd and Toney should be on the same card together is if they are fighting each other. Neither fighter is exciting to watch, atleast Toney isnt at heavyweight.
However, Jones vs Tarver is intriguing as hell and the better matchup for the whole night.
As Bombardier said get Castillo vs Corrales card, way better although Castillo vs Corrales will suck and Corrales will stay on the outside and box his way to a UD. The undercard is probably the most stellar we have seen all year.

Probably neither but i would much rather watch tony vs Guinn and Byrd vs Williamson than Jones vs Tarver.
ISN'T RAFAEL MARQUEZ FIGHTING TOO!?
If they show Byrd over Rafael Marquez I will pull off a "Say hello to my little friend!"
