after seen a documentary about a very good bodybuilder. he said he went up average 2pounds / year, he trained real hard and he also compare. so it came to my mind how could holyfield went up 12pounds of muscles in like 11months and rou jones 20pounds in 6 months?. what do you guys think?
Yes, naturally, but that goes for everone. Also, they test fighters and Roy was not tested posiive for the Ruiz fight, so it is a baseless assumption. That pretty much does prove he didn't take them.
You can't lynch mob a guy anyway just because you can't prove he didn't take them. You can only do that once he HAS tested positive. Innocent until PROVEN guilty. Of course, for anyone who hates Roy Jones (and there are many) it's just the opposite.
Toney tested positive without a doubt but not many people seem to have cared. I think steroids don't help a boxer that much, like they might some athletes in other sports.
I dont think they belong in the sport though, its a shame when any athlete uses drugs to cheat. Roy got caught, nothing seems to have been done so its either not too serious or he was lucky, either way it was a long time ago, as long as he doesnt test postitive anymore its fine.
mm
September 2002 is obviously what I meant. The following comes from a boxing article at boxing monthly.
Common sense and fairness never allowed me to believe Jones juiced because he has more haters than Martha Stewart. Wouldn't the word have been out on this already since the Jones-Ruiz fight was almost six months ago in Las Vegas? How long did it take Fernando Vargas, whose far more popular than Jones, to get busted and outed in Nevada for testing positive for the juice against de la Hoya last year? A week, maybe?
The Nevada State Athletic Commission is a public entity, just like your local school board or city government. That means its books, such as fighter contracts that reveal their salary for a particular fight or attendance numbers that have been padded by a promoter, are public record. So are drug test results. "That's completely and unequivocally wrong,'' NSAC executive director Marc Ratner said of Jones' supposed positive drug test. "He had no illegal substances in his body."
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. :boxing:
hmm
Roids helps you train better, just because he didnt get huge doesnt mean he didnt take roids, he could have used them so his training was more intense. Roids dont make you massive, you need to be lifting for it to be effective in gaining size.
I'm not sure if Roy did take roids but what you say doesnt prove he didnt.

lol, you people are idiots who say Roy was on Roids. Truly clueless. Roy walked around at 188 as of September 2003. Six months later he fought Ruiz and weighed in at 199 (fight night weight). No, this si not a sign of Roids at all. For you to say that means you are uneducated or you are a hater. My friend EJ gained 10 lbs in TWO MONTHS after boot camp.
That was the funny story about Jones vs Hall, Jones was on roids and Hall complained about it, then they found out Hall had twice as much in his body.

The person who gave this information is a body builder. They are not the same as a boxer. A body builder's ultimate goal is to have absolutely 0 body fat so every vein and muscle is that much more pronounced.

Not sure bout Holyfield, but Jones jr, definately think he wuz on roids, and i am a certified personal trainer, and have worked in Gold's Gym for 6years now(not like the gym name matters tho). It is possible to gain weight like that, but not as quickly as roy did it, plus, he looked extremely well. Too gain weight like that that quickly your body will not look that good, u must gain the weight, then diet it off. Sorry 2b the bearer of bad news, but it is obvious look at the decline in strength he had when he dropped the weight again, its a proven fact that after your cycle u loose strength, and also confidence. I'm not against steroids tho, used properly just like everything else illegal it works, but a few dumbasses missused it.
look, workout hard, get sum creatine, try to eat alot and ull gain a good 2-3lbs a month, a bit of fat, prob 10% at most

lol
Please stop the bullshit. Roy was not taking "roids" or "juicing" up or any shit like that. That was Richard Hall (who had twice the amount of "roids" in his blood for that fight that Roy had). Roy's "roids" were a small amount found in the blood, for one fight, allegedly from a nasal spray or ripped fuel which is a common;y used supplement. Roy never tested positive again for that small amount or ANY amount.
Get the phuk outta here.
2lbs a year, wat the hell is dat, ill gain dat much muscle in a coupple weeks, i gained 22lbs of muscle in 9months naturally. and natural power is a load of bull, u can get physically strong by lifting, ever wrestle a bodybuilder, ull see wat i mean
he was a pro bodybuilders, he like everyone went up most from when he start but after many years of seriously training he went up about 2pounds pure muscles every years. thats like 8pounds up total because muscles pull water and maybe little fat aswell but thats.
i dont belive you can go up 22pounds pure muscles without using roids. roy jones and holyfield went up 12 and
20pounds pure muscles in so short time. it cant be naturally if you ask me. but thats the beauti with bodybuilding some extreme individual can do that is very hard to do.
srsly man, how can u say a natural strong guy is stronger then a guy who lifts weights to get strong, its impossible, the natural strong guy still has muscles in the same places, why wud the natural strong guy be stronger? theres no reason why it wud be
RJJ was caught using roids. Whether it was for injury, gain mass, or to cheat we won't know. IMHO opinion he was cheating. How did he get so big for Ruiz so quickly.
As for Holyfield, I'm not surprised thinking about the supposed heart condition he had, the bad performances after he gained the mass.
I seen and heard tons of roids used in MMA. Being it is an international sport and dozens of organizations, drug enforcement is weak. I seen guys use it to get quick mass and not to get performance, to heal serious injuries, or straight out cheat by getting stronger, bigger and faster. It does give a good boost but doesn't make you superhuman strong.
I've wrestled bodybuilders and guys that use roids, they are strong but not to a level that is amazing. The strongest guys are the ones who are naturally strong by genetics and don't need to work out to get strong.

nowonder why jones looks so different and gain so much weight. he got caught but nothing happen. most modern boxer have use some kind of drugs or roids. maybe not lewis, he is just naturally big.
uhhh RJJ tested positive for roids. Evander probably juiced too, he had the physique.

I'm glad someone remembers that, i was going to talk about the "Roid Jones Jr" situation myself.
Evander was a better fighter when he weighed between 205 and 212 lbs. He was much quicker and had just as much power. When he bulked up to 218, it slowed him down considerably. I don't think steroids are quite as useful in boxing. To utilize strength in the ring, you have to have a certain type of natural power.
George Foreman had it. He would just walk you down and put that big body on you, wearing you down.
Ali had that type of power. Not super-human punching power type strength, but the type that pressured opponents and physically just wore them out.
With Holyfield, the more he bulked up, the quicker he seemed to get gassed in a fight. He took a lot of breaks and rounds off more often vs. when he was lighter and quicker.
I wondered if he used steroids. I would bet that he did, but that's just my guess.
Evander was still my hero, regardless of what he put into his body.
