NIGEL BENN
5-6 miles working upto 12-15 miles all in altitude
3x3 shadow boxing with 15-20lb weights
2x3 shadow boxing with no weights
4x3 punch pads
3x3 double-end bag
20 mins skipping
400 sit ups
100 push ups
every other day, he worked every muscle in the body with weights
he didn't do sparring, he saved it for the fight.
I think I deserve good karma.
Too much karma given out in the last 24 hours, ill hit you up with some blue whenever the passes.
My karma is supercharged now, and its pretty powerful, so hopefully i can budge the red you have. I bet its a bit annoying having a "bad reputation" on a site you feel you contribute to.
I saw the Prince doing padwork on Natural born thriller on VHS and it was very casual, Brendad would just say something like "10 left uppercuts then dodge two big rights near the ropes" and the Prince would do it really casually little short punches just messing about really and everything was kind of random
1200 situps for roy?...weird...is that straight or done in sets. i would think a medicine ball and higher resistence sit-ups at lower reps would do better.
NASEEM HAMED
Monday to Thursday
Jumprope and Getups
Punchpads - 6 rounds (strange angles, strange punching, also defence work)
Heavybag work - 3 mins (very casual)
100 push ups in under a minute
Speedbag work - 3 mins (very casual)
100 push ups in under a minute
Heavybag work - 3 mins (very casual)
100 push ups in under a minute
Speedbag work - 3mins (very casual)
Punchpads for 5-10 mins non-stop (switching hands non-stop)
Friday
Same routine but with Legpress/Legsled for 5-10 mins at the end of the workout instead of Punchpads
Weekend
Partying.
Those where the good days. Its a shame that Hameds bank balance made him quit boxing.
My Training Regime
(Across the whole day, no particular time).
-300 sit ups.
-300 press ups.
-300 pike sit-ups.
-30 minutes skipping non stop.
-100 punch outs with a 4kg weight.
-50 dumbell lifts with either hand (100 in total).
-Guerilla Cardio.
Definetly agree. Juy this is by far your best post in my opinion.
If only it was placed in Training and Nutrition :D. Nah only joking mate, to me it doesnt matter at all.
To me they all seem quite easy. I dont think those are the complete set are they? Because like there isnt all that much to the training.
I will post up what i do per day and you can compare it to those. (I would say Tysons is the most grueling one of the 4 or 5 whatever it is).
I know that Benn didn't start training seriously until six weeks out from a fight when he would go to Tenerife.
Eubank and Jones Jr I'm not sure about.
Hatton only starts his training eight weeks before a fight, he does NOTHING until going into camp eight weeks before a fight.
Tyson trained all year round when he was with Rooney.
Hamed trained all year round when he was with Ingle.
MIKE TYSON (1986)
Morning Roadwork (Monday to Friday) - 3 miles
Mid-Day Boxing (Monday to Friday) - 10 rounds sparring, 10 mins slip bag, 10 mins speed bag
Afternoon Groundwork (Monday to Friday) - 100 sit ups, 100 push ups, 10 mins neck exercises on the floor, 10 mins skipping
Evening Ringwork (only Monday) - practice three-punch combinations on either heavy bags or focus mitts
Before bed, he apparently loved to workout on the stationary bike against full resistance trying to beat PB's all the time.
For breakfast he'd eat porridge, lunch was steak and pasta, and dinner was steak and pasta. Apart from that, he ate his favourite food Captain Crunch by the box load.
(I also know that he only occasionally used the light barbells on the floor in the corner of the Catskill gym to train his biceps, traps and shoulders)
Weekend.. Rest.
RICKY HATTON
I train hard Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the gym for about three hours, either with sparring partners or on the body bag with Billy. I then do weight-training sessions after each workout with my nutritionist Kerry Kayes on Tuesday and Thursday and then tactics, again with Billy for about three hours. I also go for a run in the evening, every day, say for about five or six miles.
ROY JONES JR
warm up - push ups, twists, stretch, bouncing around etc
shadow boxing 4x4
heavy bag 4x4
speed bag 16 mins
floor to ceiling 16 mins
25mins skipping
1200 situps
roy does not use weights and he has 30 sec not 1 min breaks. he does leg weights after his morning run.
CHRIS EUBANK
First I started my stretching, then
3 rounds of shadow boxing,
6 rounds of heavy bag work,
3 rounds of speed ball,
Skipping between 20 to 30 minutes non-stop, no break straight through.
50 sit-ups, not crunches proper sit-ups.
Stretching.
Finish with 20 hits in the stomach with a medicine ball.
That was generally the routine.
If I was sparring it was the same routine but without the bag work.
(I also know that over many weeks on Bodmin Moor he would go from running 3-5 miles once a day working up to running 10-12 miles twice a day, and apparently he NEVER used weights and only ate once a day!)
