No he doesn't belong in the hall, his most notable fights all ended in a loss for him except his fight with Winky, which I had at a draw if I remember right.
Good points either way hall of Fame with only 28 pro fights just does not cut it for me , That was a fun fight to watch though one of my favs.Tito/Vargas that is and DLH/Vargas for that matter.
If Vargas wins 1 or 2 more great fight with about 35 victories, i think hell be worthy, he already has a very good resume in victories. He also became the youngest man to win a title, He won a medal in the olympics, set a record of knock out wins to begin career. He was also a very good fighter as a amateur.
Id say no but he does have wins vs Ike Quartey, Winky Wright, Raul Marquez, Yoriboy Campas when Campas was 72-2 and Campas held a title. He fought with heart Vs De La Hoya and Trinidad and did give them some problems till they became too much. Tito just fought dirty and hit Vargas in the Balls too much ,making Vargas very weak by round 12. All those shots Tito hit Vargas with were like being hard body shots but harder, that is why Tito won this fight, Vargas had less energy due to those shots, Then Tito mightve illegally wrapped his gloves for more hand power. Tito got 2 knock downs in round 1 but by round 4, Vargas was beating Tito, Vargas began to get momentum, He even dropped Tito, he was ahead on points and winning the fight but Tito kept hitting Vargas on the balls, Vargas fought gallantly, Tito should have gotten disqualified for sure, Vargas body was hurt badly by the lowblows Tito hit him with that he couldnt fight by round 12, Anytime Vargas took command of the fight with Tito, Tito hit Vargas on the balls. I dont blame Vargas for losing to Tito, Tito took away Vargas body, with too many lowblows and Jay Nady shouldve done a better job refereeing, Tito shouldve been disqualified.

If he could beat Terra Garcia or Travis Simms I think he would be hall worthy but without signature victories like I mentioned above I see no way he could get in.
Step up Vargas, either face the heat of Garcia or Simms or forget the hall!
Not even close. He was thoroughly beaten in his two biggest fights (albeit against awesome fighters), & hasn't done anything remotely great beyond that.
he doesnt need to beat him soundly again. he beat him soundly the first time. Boxing politics at it's best again. Who needs to beat up a washed up fighter?? Vargas is threw.
Well I agree but that is not how it is written in the record books unfortunately.
IMO no because it is quite clear that Winky would beat him soundly now.

Could what Winky does from here on out enhance his chances? Since he is the only active fighter with a victory over Wright.
