Bullshit, to discriminate the list of my favorite fighters based on the fact of rather you've lived during the time periods when they reigned, or rather you've seen them live is unimportant. If you've seen a failry extensive amount of their carrers' is important. I can watch 100's and 100's of old fights and pick apart each fighers' gameplan, and overall style over a periods of fights and parts of his career. I can then take this info and pick my favorite fighters, and favorite styles.
Thats being a student of the sport.
gd point mate
Why is some people putting fighters that they never seen. Yea I know you find tape & stuff. But how can a fighter be your favorite fighter, if you never have seen them at the time they were fighting. I will never put some of the old legends on my list, because I wasn't there to see them. I've seen Hagler & he was my idol when I was a kid. But guys like Robinson & Louis etc doesn't make any sense, unless you're really old & have seen them fight.
how can you say that? if you like a fighter you like him. my top 5 are all current guys but ali, leonard, and whitaker are in there and i didnt see any of them live. i saw some of whitakers fights live but not many. i like their way/wys of fighting in that order of my list. thats how someone is somebodys fav fighter in the order that they like the way that fighter fights.
You make little to no sense.
I've seen rougly 20+ Louis fights, and roughly 30+ LaMotta fights.
What makes little to no sense to me, is the fact that your profile says you were born in 1985 and yet claim to have seen "30+ LaMotta fights".
How is that possible when there's not even ten fights of LaMotta's available on film for ANYBODY's viewing nowadays (including the most hardcore fight collectors out there)? Time machine, perhaps?
I think that is just plain stupid & dumb. You are not watching a fight from them that you don't know the outcome of the fight. Every old fights you see on DVD's, you know the outcome. How in the world that person can become your favorite fighter of all time, that is just plain stupid & dumb. Yea I could go on say Sugar Ray Robinson is my favorite fighter of all time, because I've seen many fights of his on tape. It just doesn't work like that.

No movies is different. This is sports. Can you become the old Yankee fan because they win almost every year & Ruth was god of baseball. Same goes for boxing.
Watching an old fight, regardless of whether or not I know the outcome is just like watching a good movie. I might know who wins but if it's a great fight, I can enjoy it and enjoy the fighters for their performance.

Well damn, I guess any movie I've scene before I can't think is my favorite... I mean, I've seen it so I know how it ends. I guess I can only like movies I haven't seen.
Well shit. Me being a cheapass and only paying for very few PPV's, and usually watching reruns of friday night fights and things like that.... I guess my numbers are dropping and dropping. I'm gonna' have a small fucking list to pick from if this keeps up.
That's the fact jack. How can someone become your favorite if you have never seen them. That's how fighters becomes peoples favorite fighters, not by some old DVD's & tapes. I've seen Sugar Ray Robinson on tapes & shit like that, I think he's the greatest boxer of all time, but I respect him, but how in the hell he becomes my favorite fighter, that doesn't make any sense what's so ever.
You make little to no sense.
I've seen rougly 20+ Louis fights, and roughly 30+ LaMotta fights. So that doesn't allow me to consider them some of my favorite fighters?

So you're telling me seeing a old fighter on tape doesn't count?
That shit is stupid, I understand what you're saying if a person hasn't seen a good part of their careers' and they're just saying their names.
You need to clarify.
