Hellooooooooo Everybody,
I am not a fequent poster, however I check the site daily and enjoy reading everyones comments. I am not new to boxing conditioning, although I am very new to being a boxing fan. I understand there is alot to learn on these forums, but where can I learn the about the up to date boxing fights and fighters. I would like to learn who were the greatest, who are the suckiest, and who has the most potentional etc. Where would a good newbie learn from?
Also, are most boxing fans only interesting in certain weight groups? In example would a average fan only pay attention to Heavy Weight and middleweight boxers or all the weights? If you all can give me some guidance it would be very helpful. I am getting very interested however I don't know where to start. Thanks for the help

You're correct that the reason the 140-150 lb divisions are always so full of talent is because the average male only weighs about 140 lbs in boxing shape. Because of this, the talent pool is deeper at that weight than anywhere else.
In my opinion, an AVERAGE person would first pay attention to the division that is the most popular in the mainstream, but over time, an average person would begin to watch AVERAGE(division/weight-wise) fighters. In my case, I started off loving the Heavyweight division when I was younger, but now that I am a PUGILISM SCHOLAR, my favorite division is the Welterweight division. I think more people are close to 140 lbs. than they are to 190-200 lbs, so they tend to gravitate toward the AVERAGE.
My personal favorite weight classes are Junior Welterweight (140 lbs), Welterweight (147 lbs), Junior Middleweight (154 lbs) and Middleweight (160 lbs). However I like fighters in pretty much every weight class and am very interested in most fights that come on TV.
A good way to find out who is really good is to look at pound for pound lists. These are lists that rank (usually) the top 10 boxers in the world regardless of weight. This very website has a pound for pound list that you can find on the home page.
A good site to go to in order to find out who fights and when is boxrec.com. You can search by date, or by fighter.
