While Spinks slipped about 8 times in their fight, this one (out of them all) looked to me like it was a knock down.
Should this have been scored a knock down?
No I dont think it was a knockdown. If you notice....Mayorga's left knee bumps into an already crouched Spinks that sent him off balance. That was a definite slip IMO.

Your tellin me that at no point do you see contact between the two fighters.
I'm telling you that your logic of them making contact at the 33/34 second mark is nonsense, because if that's what put Spinks down, he would have fell towards the ropes, not in the direction the punch seemed to send him in.
I'm not saying anyone's wrong, just the logic used so far to dismiss it has been ignorant.
There's been many a knock down much more sketchy than this that have counted.
And again, regardless of it being high on the side, contacting the arm 1st...
if a puch connects to the upper body that sends the opponent down, it's a knock down.
Once again, Spinks being off balance is not an excuse.
Hamed was knocked down quite a bit for being off balance, and they were always correctly called knock downs.
The point is, if it's a punch to the upper body that causes the knock down, it's a knock down.
It doesn't matter that the other fighter is off balance (of his own fault) or if the punch isn't flush.
There was no push, it was a punch that caught Spinks off balance and sent him down.
Having a different opinion is fine, but not when it's with a lack of understanding of the rules.

right before mayorga throws that right,he runs into spinks a little, and i didnt see that right land on the ribs, looks like high on the arm to me.I havent seen this fight tho,Im just judging the gif you made, maybe it looks diffrent in higher quality.
Ok then, look at it at 34 going on 33 seconds. It was not a push of the arms, it was a push with his body, to a fighter already on his heels moving backward. If you dont see that your blind
You have no idea what you're talking about.
If the motion you're talking about was responsible for putting Spinks down, he would have fell into the ropes.
Spinks was moving back of his own choice, and the punch to the body (regardless of where on the body it landed or how flush it was) clearly sends Spinks down in a different direction than they were moving.
Again, a punch to the upper body that sends a fighter down as a result is a knock down.

It was clearly a punch.
You seem to be under the impression that it has to be a flush intentional shot for it to count.
Wrong.
A shot landed to the upper body that causes the other guy to go down is a knock down. Period.
If you'd care to explain where this push is I'd like to hear it.

The punch was high on the back, not in a detramentel spot. He also catches his fist on spinks's arm. Maybe if spinks was the type of fighter with a soft body then yeah, but come on. he is in great shape. But like i said earlier. He cleary was gettin knocked left and right in the fight, lots of the KD's were legitimate KD's, but i dont feel this one was.
It does not look like a legitimate knock down. Spinks was of balance and got pushed.
Thats my feelin. he doesnt get hit flush or glancin really. The rib shot maybe, but not in that fashion. a body blow usually drops someone after 1-3 seconds. Not usually immediatly. Also, the guy comin in was pushin into at already off balance spinks. Now, if spinks was just mearly duckin and not already startin to lose his balance and he fell, then yea, he got KD, but thats not the case. So no, not this one. Others in that fight, Yes.
Bernstein:Cory, so is it a big thing defending the title in your hometown?
Ummmmmmmmmm, i have always wanted to ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, defend my title in my ummmmmmmmmmmmm, hometown
1. I mistyped. Surely, I meant KD.
2. No it does not.
3. His "punch" looks like a push to me while Spinks is being off balance.
4. I do not give a rat's ass.

Can't fault Mayorga cause Spinks was off balance when he threw the punch.

1) It's a knock down, not a knock out.
2) Being off balance doesn't mean you get a knock down waived off (see Roy Jones dropping James Toney)
3) Where is this push you're talking about?
Mayorga's other arm is moving away from Spinks as the body shot that drops him lands.
Pretty weak post on your part.
