Take a look at Humberto Soto's boxrec: Humberto Soto
Soto has fought a lot at superfeather and once as a lightweight. No wonder the two fighters look like they were from different weight classes, and Rocky's height didn't help either. It was a total nightmare for Juarez, Soto can box and take his punches.
They also mentioned if Rocky had won that fight, he would've taken Injin Chi and then Juan Manuel Marquez. Big mistake to overlook your opponents. I wonder where does he go from here.
And that's what Soto completed exposing. That Rocky, while he is a hell of a fighter, isn't what he was hyped to be. That, if you can keep him on the outside, he is rather ineffective.
Exposed what? Only thing I saw wrong with Rocky's performance was that Soto could take his punch.I thought Rocky and Soto made a hell of a fight.Rocky did what he had to do and came up short, are you guys forgeting Soto hasnt lost in his 14 fights. He is one tough mf and had a fight plan and stuck to it. I never saw the Raheem fight but someone mentioned there was alot of holding in that fight. This fight was clean and the best man of the night won.
When Soto was walking to the ring and Jim Lampley mentioned that Soto was raised in a cardboard house, that his father was a bus driver, and that he started fighting to earn enough money to buy a bus, I was thinking that Juarez was in for a tough night.
Juarez has been exposed here. Raheem is the one who exposed Rocky, not Soto. Soto just got the decision (rightfully so) where Raheem lost a hometown decision.
The last fight I saw of Rocky's prior to Raheem was another that was a hometown decision. His fight against Velazquez. It could easily have been a draw, though I had Rocky winning 115-113, but 2 of the scorecards had Rocky dominating, which he never did.
I hope Rocky sees what happened and learns from it. He's still exciting to watch when his game is on.
Juarez was suppose to fight Chi on the card, but Chi injured an ankle while doing roadwork. So this fight was changed to a WBC #1 contender eliminator. Soto was ranked 2nd by the WBC going into the fight, im sure Juarez knew he had a tough opponent, he just couldn't get the job done.
They thought they had a cupcake, like Wlad did with fighting Corrie Sanders. The cupcake turned out to be them.
Plus Juarez already lost to Raheem. Most people who saw it would agree.
